Considering the PopnLock but I wonder how hard it'd be to replace that plastic piece that I always hear about breaking with something metal...

I wonder if you can kinda combine the OEM handle and the popnlock to make it into some super frankenhandle...
I also feel like it'd be worth it to get it from their actual website. Seems the customer service/replacement is infitely better through them directly rather than Amazon.

I just posted the PNL in the Amazon thread after ordering it. A local member mocked up a replacement steel handle for the pop n lock and it looks easy enough to make if you have basic fab skills. Hell even if you have shitty fab skills but enough time to grind booger welds smooth. Here’s his pics:






I figured if mine breaks I’ll just do something similar.

I guess I'll just get the P&L from Amazon and just figure it out if/when it fails.

 

That’s what I figured. I might take a half-hearted crack at it before I install. My tailgate is a PITA to disassemble because of all the shit I’ve done to it.

 

I did see a post somewhere on here where someone made a little hole/door thing on the tailgate plastic right in front of the latch, that way if it fails, you can pop that open and unlock it with a screwdriver if that's your thing.

Yeah, pulling the trigger on it now from Amazon. I'll just come crying in here when it breaks.

 

Gonna get that center console organizer and some fender flare clips while I'm at it.
