High beam setup that best matches the rx350?

Getting the retrofit rx350 headlights and want to upgrade my stock high beam. Closest in color and needs to be plug and play. Don’t care if it’s hids of leds. Just want something simple and not crazy expensive and looks like the came color of the rx’s. I do know the retros have there own high beam. Thx

 

2 things to consider:
1) LEDs will lack focus and be a significant downgrade in high beam distance projection performance. You'll get more scatter but much less distance projection.
2) HIDs high beams will have a delayed warm up time, which is really not ideal for high beams where you typically want instant on. You will not have the ability to flash your lights.

Just get the brightest halogen bulb you can find and don’t worry about the color. Was it nightbreakers the brightest? I can’t remember

 

This^ you don’t drive with your high beams on all the time so color will not really matter.

 

In H9 bulbs, the stock German bulb is the brightest, short of possibly trying to find a 100w bulb and running heavy duty wiring and relays. You could run a blue coated H9 bulb to shift the color temp cooler, it won’t match but it will be closer. Nightbreakers and other performance bulbs are not available as an H9 as H9s are already optimized for performance.

As others pointed out though, nobody sees the high beam to notice if the color temp matches the low beam or not.

 

I always preferred keeping the high beam halogen for instant on, and being slightly yellowish it has better output in rain/snow.
You can get a whiter light such as sylvania ZXEs that will match it a little closer but it all depends on what color bulbs are in the Rx350s (4100k,4200k,4300k,4500k,5000k,5500k,6000k etc)

 

I recently retrofitted with the RX350 HID projectors and retained the stock h9 high beams.

When taking them for a brief test in a rural area, the combination of the HID splitter and stock high beams (quad high beams essentially) is absolutely amazing, especially in locations with little or no ambient light. I felt as if the ISS could see me, just a rolling ball of light headed down the road.

That said, I'm not concerned about looks, as the only point anyone would see the full high beam display is if I had to flash them in traffic. Just my .02, but I would suggest not worrying too much about it, as the output itself is top notch.

 

Ok thanks everyone, I think I’ll just keep the halogen in the high beam. Maybe get a better bulbs.

 

Keep in mind that with the RX350s you'll have a pair of already warmed up HIDs used with high beams, so having another pair of HIDs in the high beam spot isn't going to be that big of a deal. I have HIDs in both and it's pretty awesome. I also retrofitted in another projector for the high beam spot though, so YMMV
