Hey guys figured we'd start up another camping trip since it's been a few months. This time we are venturing out to Chatooga River up in Clayton. It's a good campiste with plenty of room, easy to get to with only a small river crossing to go through. 2WD is welcome! Children and wives can come if they don't mind some crude humor and foul language from time to time. :anonymous:

This is what you have to cross, stick to the right of the rock and you'll be fine. Keep your speed up and don't stall  The picture above (one with trucks) shows the route a little better.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oxBrzIMGoA

Keep in mind the water is a lot deeper than when we will be going

Since I'm pretty booked up until October I've set the dates as the last two weekends in September so it's warm enough to enjoy the cold river and far enough out people can ask off. It would be another 3 day affair (Friday-Sunday).

I'll give out the coordinates and how to get there at a later date for those coming up other than Friday. We'll meet up at the Ingles that's near and head out around 10:15AM to the campsite. It's about 30 minutes from Inlges to the campsite.

There is no service so please plan accordingly!

I should be available both weekends as well. I'm going to be "that guy" and say tentatively in for now.

I'll probably have my daughter. Our son is due end of August, so it might be nice for us to get out and have some time together without a crying infant. Plus, she'll be 3 by then and I want to start introducing her to the outdoors.

Even at the deepest point in that video, it isn't high enough to get into the intake. I think you have a moderate lift in that video, so I would think that even a stock tacoma would make it through there. The electronics getting wet would be my only concern there.

Yeah, I was just posting as a perspective so peeps know which way to go. It was much shallower a few weeks ago and can only assume it will be similar when we go. Also depends on what the rain has looked like though.

Gotcha gotcha. It’s a fun time either way! Can definitely be intimidating but these trucks, even in 2wd, are more than capable to make it through.

I'm going to try and make this happen. I'll only be able to do Saturday and Sunday if I can make it. I'll have a RRT, wife and two kids in tow and maybe a dog.
