Still even in causal conversation they will try to pick things out of you, they are trained to do this, because any small percentage of fault they can put on you lessens the liability on their part/saves them money.

and if they put even say 10% fault on you your insurance company will usually make you pay your deductible (mine is $500) not worth risking them trying something funny

I say this from a point of view where I basically have a target painted on my vehicle, I have had 5, 0% fault accidents in the past 10 years

I don't see Mercury calling me to ask me questions about the accident since they have already accepted fault. It's passed the point of any investigation. Even if they did ask, I'm not easy to talk to. There's no claim against my insurance, so I'm not paying anything.

What options does Jason have if they don’t total it?

Actually, which is better - totaled or repair?

I mean, resale value is gonna take a hit.

Might be able to seek compensation for the loss in value.

    ...too much shit to list.
Sorry to hear @2BeersPlease but glad you are ok.

Frame is hosed in several places so it would have to be a frame swap and it needs a new bed. I’d be shocked if it was not totaled.

The frame was my biggest concern.

You can bet that's what will happen. I have everything except the front bumper.

Maybe this is the universe telling me to keep the '04.

Might be a good idea to put out a feeler for a white bumper in partial trade for yours...

Things will be better if you keep the '04. First Gens are like that.

Oh... You can bet your ass I'd pull that bumper straight off that truck and I'd turn it over with no bumper.

But check with ToyAuto Mart and Rancho Toyota (salvage). Who cares what color, as long as it fits, if you want to be nice.

Damn glad you both are alright. Is it bad that I secretly wish someone would "lightly" rearend my truck so I can get a cash payout and then rebuild the truck with all new parts? Mines so old I wouldn't care, but a brand new truck would be hard to stomach.

Depends on what you want to do with the truck. If it was me, I would keep the truck and mod it. You can get it from insurance for cheap and whatever extra money you get, put it on the mods. If you are planning on keeping the truck for while, resale really doesn't matter. I bought my old second gen with salvage title for 10k and drove it around for almost 50k miles and sold it again for 10k.

Always used to think this. But now I'm here and my car is still registered in VA so it wouldn't be so convenient anymore.

On another note, my boss sees me pull up and asks what my "ideal" Fox shocks would be for my truck. They are a client and he wants to run it by our contact at the company. He's done this before and nothing came of it, so we will see this time. Told me "I don't want XXX to come and see those cheap knockoffs on your truck..." haha. Guess Camburg are cheap knockoffs these days.
