I can't get a visual of the bolt size or location and so I don't know how much room you are working with.

I once used a manual hand impact driver after I used a cutting wheel to cut a slot in a large bolt.

You use the fattest driver bit, and a small sledge hammer to torque the bolt out.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Add viper semen to some whiskey, then pour that on the bolt followed by a bit of Monster Energy. That will fix it.

I got a six point socket today so I will try that. Push comes to shove I'll buy another fill plug and do what I need to with this one.

This is a good strategy!! PB Blaster worked really well on my Saab 9-5 caliper bolts. Just give it time to work.

I may have already missed this suggestion but if it hasn’t been thrown out there yet I’d say whatever you get on the head of that thing use some sharp blows with some type of sledgehammer. I’ve always had way better luck “shocking” things vs brute strength. Same principal as an impact gun.

I know someone has already mentioned this, but I had this exact problem last week. The fill bolt was completely rounded out. The only thing that worked for me was a bolt extractor socket. I bought this set off Amazon cause I couldn’t find one large enough at a local store.

IRWIN Tools IMPACT Performance Series BOLT GRIP Deep Well Bolt Extractors, 1/2-inch Square Drive, 6-Piece Lug Nut Set with 1/4-inch Hex Drive to 3/8-inch Square Socket Adapter (1859146) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LFRRZVY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_gylkDbN3N7Q8K

After some pounding and cranking it finally let loose.
Sorry I’m still figuring out this app. That link doesn’t look functional

Thankfully mine came loose after copious amounts of Blaster PB and a new six point socket. The corners weren't too bad but I ended up buying a new fill plug anyway.

OP, is your truck 4WD? If so you might want to check the fill plug on the front diff and make sure its not seized as well. They can be a real PITA if they're anything like the ones on the second gens which strip easy as hell. Better to loosing it up a little before it has a chance to seize up.

easy out set. You didn't say how thick the plug was. Beware...if you drill a small hole ( which s needed) there will be metal fragments goin into the gear area. This is a great tool but go slow. Using a lot of heat works but it can harden the female thread area , use some kind of lubricant that won't hurt the gears.

BTW. You may think this is crazy but have you tried to TIGHTEN it a very small amount. You can break the bond. Go slow. Don't get carried away with force. Try the reverse impact feature on your drlll motor , go back and forth , forward and backwards.

    https://www.gasenginemagazine.com/restoration/how-to-remove-rusty-pipe-plugs-head-plugs

If you double wrench it or put a cheater on the pull handle of a ratchet you can cause a crack in the metal surrounding the plug. Be careful.

Does it look like the photo below? There are all kinds of designs used in plugs.
