Anyone have pics of how much the 17x9 -38 stick out on a second gen? Im wondering what besides cmc, and mud flap removal I would have to do to run this size.

Got my -38 Stealth Blue mounted with 285/75/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. 3 inch lift up front, aggressive CMC, fender corner trim and fender liner trim, I still rub full lock on the driver side.

Where are you exactly rubbing at? Could you share the type of water proof spray you used for your pinch weld?

Still rubbing the driver side cab mount on the flat spot before the angle. Again only when I full lock. If I feel it hit I just back off it some and it’s fine. But it’s a 3M rubberized coating they used. I’ve heard gasket maker works well too

Did you get the cmc before your wheels were installed? Im hoping when I get my cmc they will cut it back far enough to clear. Another option is a relocation kit

I had it done after they went on. My issue was the 17x9, -38 offset and a 285/75/17. It all played a roll with the rub. But boy it looks good. I’m gonna drive it a while and see if a relocate is needed so far normal driving it’s been fine. Can still manage a U turn with a good radius so I think I’ll be fine. And while it is rubbing a it’s now on a flat spot instead of a point.

What does the front liner look like? How much did you have to trim off?

Cut off the first bumper clip. Liner has about an 7-8 inch square.

Lifting it tomorrow! With 6112/5160 17x9 -38 scs ray10s wrapped on 285/75-17 going to do major cmc, pinch weld, and SPC UCA which may help with positive caster I hear, but will have to trim front bumper tho will see what’s happen I’ll update more info tomorrow!

SPC UCA are great. You can purposely position the wheel closer to the front of the truck to cut down on the rubbing in the back. Check out this thread for more info:

caster set at 4.7 Driver 4.9 passenger. I’m hoping a tad bit more lift from a spacer to correct my taco lean will give me what I need but time will tell.

I have seen from my local Toyota dealership they use front Lift spacers with stock uca, no cmc, and 285 70 17 but they use ko2

    Edit: tho this is a 17x8.5 -10 ray10

Umm that's interesting... so front spacers could be the equivalent of the -38mm offset. Thanks for sharing

Pretty sure he means a spacer lift not a wheel spacer.

From dealing with my -38s a CMC is definitely gonna be needed. Granted if I went with a 285/70/17, I may not have needed to do such an aggressive chop, but life of wanting a taller tire. Can it be done sure, but pick your poison. I did the research of the best possible chances for no rub but in the end still rub. :annoyed:
