I would accept a 4 or 6 pack of a really good stout or porter in lieu of a handy.

Only been to one a long time ago, up in Aberdeen. It was hot AF but a great concert. I rode Harley for a little over 25 years until about 5 years ago so they are ingrained into my soul.

Have you seen them? I really dig southern rock!

Yea, most likely I will just drive up where he works at lunch on Wednesday of next week and drop it off. Depending on how well it fits in the box my Mobtown skid came out of I might just throw it in there. If it's sloppy or seems too bulky I won't. It will easily fit in the trunk or behind the seat of any car out of the box. I will wash it up good though. It doesn't need any paint. It likely doesn't even have a scratch on it. :bananadead:

Been to the last 3. My daughter gets us tickets for Father’s Day. First one was at St Leonards fire house awesome show! Small venue metal folding chairs on grass very intimate. If you like intimate. Second was at Jiffy lube live out in what used to be Gainesville Va . Not what Gainesville used to look like. With Bad Company! Bad Co sounded better than they did in the 70’s! I can still feel my head buzzing when they played Sky is Burning! Keep in mind these cats are 70 years old give or take! Mostly original members also. An aside, we were waiting in line and I could hear security asking everyone if they had a knife on their person. I asked my daughter if this was standard protocol as she has held a season pass there. She said no they have never asked if we were armed. Naturally both of us had knives on our person. So I told her to get in the dude security guards line and I would get in the chicks. We didn’t declare truthfully and they didn’t frisk us. Sounds kind of prejudiced against us geriatric white angry redneck people doesn’t it? I guess they thought we would start cutting each other in a Southern Rock celebration and flood the stage with blood as if it was Antietam! Last time was their farewell tour last summer. Also at Jiffy Lube. Not quite as good with the support bands , Foghat, 38 Special , Atlanta Rhythm Section etc. but as usual Skynyrd was up to the task! They rocked out! God and Guns Will Keep Us Strong! Hallelujah Brothers and Sisters!:benchpress::infantry:

Is there a hand held battery powered radio that can talk to anybody no matter ham or cb? Maybe not the most powerful thing but that’s fine as itd really only be used to talk to people near me on trails

Yeeeehaw! Sounds like a blast. You probably have heard of Great Train Robbery then. They are a local cover band. They do a great job on Skynyrd. Been to so many VFW Bull & Oyster Roasts they played I can't count on all my digits.

I think my Anthem is Free Bird! It will definitely be playing at my wake, among other songs like it.

And yea, uh, who doesn't carry a knife? Or at least one, if not two? Phhht.

Sup Bobby? Read this explanation, it's one of the best I have read on the subject:

    http://forums.radioreference.com/threads/gmrs-vs-ham.333014/post-2572795

And to me I think he used the wrong terminology for GMRS. I would had said "the smarter choice", not the easy out or whatever. But in general this will explain why when I said I would get a GMRS over a CB, for wheeling. I know I went HAM and that is very limiting but at the time everyone was talking about going HAM for trail coms so I followed the pack. I don't have any regrets. My radio (alone) was on sale and not that much, and even after all the add-ons I am still under $100 I think. Like I said, I can dumb it down and transmit on GMRS frequencies, and I think I can lower it enough to transmit on FRS as well. I need to look more into it. Mine is the Baofeng BF-F8HP which is the high power 3rd Gen version of the BF-UV5R. Mine was on sale for 40 bucks so I spent the extra 15 for the upgrade.

For a combination (they are definitely out there) look at something like this:

    https://www.grainger.com/product/MI...BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!317451745587!b!!g!!

With a radio like this you would be able to talk to someone with a simple FRS walkie talkie or someone with a more advanced GMRS radio, or even someone with a dual band HAM walkie talkie like I have. It's all about power (watts) and how much of it you use to transmit on the various frequencies. Because more will get you farther distances (along with more antenna length, yes, length does matter, and better equipment). That doesn't mean you have to spend a boat load of money though. Just do you homework and make sure before you buy, you watch some youtube reviews on the particular models. Talk to people too. Naturally everyone is gonna have their own opinions. Baofeng is a relatively inexpensive brand that I and a lot of people have. It's one of the better beginner radios. It will do anything radios costing a lot more will do. Will it keep up with the best. Not for talking to people on the other side of the world but I bet if I tweaked my antenna I could give it a good run. Will it work in the field on the trails? Hell yea. The test is no joke though and I am no genius but I do have at least half a brain left. I studied my ass off. I scored very high but did not ace the test. The GMRS license is a one time fee that lasts 10 years. Everyone in your family (not sure how that works) is covered.

Edit - to answer your question though, Nothing but CB can talk to CB.
