I like the rack!!

 

DA-UMMM! That's a clean mofo there! Looks excellent! For me I want the outside distance from the bottom where it sits on the sides of the bed. I am worried about clearance issue in my garage at home and the parking garage at work once I install a rack or whatever up there. I know it is not all that easy since most have some overhang where the two meet but, what, like a half an inch, maybe a full inch. That's not shit once I get the final from the top of the fender or bedside dimension. TIA!!!

 

I had a topper on my Tundra and it never leaked. I had sliding windows and dual rear locks. I figure I could silicone the hell out of it though if it did.

That rack is freakin' bad ass!

 

Ok will get that when I am home, now with my lift, it barely fits in my garage, so I know what you mean.

Thanks, I like your rig too. What lift did you get? I'm in the market for a soft 2-3" lift. Factory sport suspension is a bit stiff for my taste, and I want to get some rake back. Not into the bro level look.

I mean something will leak; the gaskets on my windoors and rear glass have been replaced by the dealer already. Water and dust from your tires will get up in the bed sides and come in to the bed beneath the rail caps, through the cubbies, under the header, the tracks, tailgate gaps, and especially the front corners of the bed. Lots of work to do yourself; most dealers won't seal all those places.

 

My ARE Overlander shell finally arrived. Ordered it April 14 and it was delivered July 9. Got it installed July 12. I wasn’t 100% sure I would like the black on the Overlander when I ordered it, but now that it’s on my truck I like it. It would look even better if I had a black Pro grill. Hmmmm....

Options include:
Windoors with sliding windows
Headliner
Interior light
Fold down front window with slider
Reinforced roof with tracks for roof racks
Yakima roof racks

It all came to $3200, in case anyone wants to know. The options add up, especially the windoors.

Please excuse the dirt. I’m headed to the mountains tomorrow and didn’t see the benefit of washing it today.

 

Did you do the reinforced shell for use with the RTT?

 

that is a nice looking shell, really like the Black on it!!

 

I have been working on a way to mount some cyclones to the shell glass door, wanted them to be able to light up the tailgate when open for preparing meals, etc., and also be able to supply light inside while camping in the back. I am going to try using round velcro pads and see how well it holds up. this is what I came up with. It has a switch installed with the shell wiring box.

Well, I wasn't sure about the snugtop... until I saw one yesterday.
I think I am going to get a similar top. Like the idea of the sportsmans package.
Do you think the electric upgrade is worth it?
Did you upgrade the interior light?
I think I will go with the windoors. Just wish they had different handles.

 

I would recommend 2 windoors. I don't remember what the electric upgrade includes. The dealer in Chicago doesn't like the remote lock on back glass... too many problems. I asked about upgraded lighting and they said no options (which is false, I think). I'm hoping to add some battery-powered LED strings eventually. I think that is possible?..

 

The electric lock is a pain in the ass, (I had problems with mine) but I recommend doing the pro lock, the pop out T handle is janky looking for such a sweet top.

 

The dealer automatically orders the pro lock. The only stick out handles are on the windoors.
The electric upgrade is 12v plugs on the fuse box instead of the usb's.
There is a light upgrade, either a bar going across the back above the door or running up the center... $75.00 upgrade... not convinced on that one.

 

If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t get the light that’s wired into the parking light. With the head liner, you can get any sort of battery operated light and attach it to roof with Velcro, which is what I did yesterday. I got a $5 led light from Harbor Freight ( the kind that looks like a wall light switch) and put some Velcro on the back of it and stuck it to the roof. It’s on there solid and puts out more light than the one that came with the truck.

Other than that minor detail, I love the topper.
