TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

@GT7 I also used a Spal. The fan that came with the shroud/radiator combo wasn't moving enough air and I kept overheating. I thought it was bubbles in the system and it was frustrating the feck out of me. Replaced with Spal fan, no problem since.

 

Alright guys question for those with more knowledge than I. Running the TRD tune, with URD Y pipe and exhaust 2.85 pulley, afe intake. Haven’t had any issues other than battling heat in the summer. Recently put some exhaust wrap on the y pipe and a few spots around the cats where they are close to the trans to help with heat. Now my AFRs are all over the place from 14.9 - 15.7. I am using the port on the URD y pipe for the afr sensor so it is actually downstream from the cats that I wrapped.

Should I be worried and look into tuning to get the afrs back to 14.7 or is the heat wrap just distorting my reading and I need to recalibrate.

 

Hmm. I’ve got my y-pipe ceramic coated and no issues. Do you need to leave it out in the open air and let it recal?

 

Have you checked for leaks around the flanges, pre-sensor?

Not recently but i didn’t notice anything before. And I wrapped it without taking anything off the truck so there shouldn’t be any Leaks. I put the wrap on last night and the afrs have been wonky most of today. Getting a little better this evening, maybe the computer is adjusting? They are now in the 14.7-15.3 range while cruising.

I have some exhaust bung extensions I'd like gone. Maybe distance for a cooler temp may be the trick. With heat wrap on you may have given the sensors more than adequate heat for correct readings. PM me if it interested you.

@zscott I am thinking your wrap is creating unwanted heat on the sensor. The aftermarket air fuel ratio sensor setups are somewhat sensitive to heat for some reason. It must be a drawback of being able to have a wider range of air fuel readings over factory capabilities which makes them more sensitive.

I would run a bung extension as mentioned... What sort of air fuel sensor are you running?

I would try an air calibration before spending any money on it first.

 

I ment I dont remove the fan for a belt swap. Honestly, I dont have a sub. All my other speakers are upgraded, I need a sub but have no money!
