Can anyone tell me how much oil I should buy for my differential?

I did mine rear recently and I think it took about three quarts. I bought two and it wasn't enough. Luckily, I hada couple of partial quarts laying around so I think it was just under three.
Check your manual to be sure but I'd buy at least three.

Once it starts running out of the fill plug you’re good to go.

Just get the gallon jug of super tech gear oil for like 15$ at walmart then you will have plenty. That's what I use and it works fine. No different than any other brand

I'm guessing he's wondering how much to buy.

I buy 6 quarts and that’s exactly enough to do the rear diff, xfer case and front diff. For the rear, it’s worth removing the spare tire to make it easier to add the new gear oil in.

Recently went with whatever it said in the forum DIY and some Ford/GM additive from an auto parts store I believe, because it's an LSD (TRD Sport) and mixed with Autozone brand 80w90 gear oil
