    MT OR doesn't have terrain select and crawl control.

    I got an MT because I control my own truck. And the Hitachi shocks are stiff enough to take weight of armor. It's a great starting point

    I wouldn't go that far. Sport is for well... sport.... It has some off road capabilities to allow you to get to your sport places. Not a work truck and not off road specific but will still be pretty capable on most off road trails save rock and such. Most of the other truck manufacturers offer "Sport" models and I'm guessing for the same reasons.

    No problems here. 2018 trd offroad. 265 75 16 pro comp lift 1.25 spyder track wheel spacers all weathertech and marathon seat covers. No problems

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
    The Ridgeline did better in the stock shock department than the offroad when they drove into Death Valley, nothing to brag about there.
    More tire choices in 17 inch wheels which a lot of people swap out. That 1/2 difference of rubber top and bottom not a deal breaker.
    Top Gear has driven convertible sports cars deeper into the jungle and desert with 2wd than most, proving that you don’t need to go all high tech to head into the back country.
    The tech would be nice in oh shit moments.
    If they would have the DBL Cab offroad with 6 foot box here that would be my next truck though.

    I went Sport because I couldn’t stand the soft OR suspension. If you drive halfway aggressively, you will want a tighter suspension.

    Really, all the Sport vs Off Road talk is just about preference but the real issue is 4WD vs 2WD.

    A 4WD SR5 is infinitely better than a 2WD Off Road.

    If the Sport model has or had a premium comfort on road suspension, I may have considered the Sport since I use it on road and love me some luxury suspension in any car/truck.

    I just didn't think to ask, and they didn't say.

    I don't mean premium handling, but just comfort.

    I ordered a C4 winch bumper and was going to have it powder coated, but the difficulty touching up powder coat has me thinking this may look good and allow for touching up

    Toyota just wants to sell trucks, different trim packages is a different strokes for different folks kind of mentality. The guy that just uses his truck to maybe go fishing or hunting in remote places would do just fine with any 4x4 Tacoma,, but,, the guy who's out there offroad looking for those "oh shit" moments wants to start with a platform with all those high tech options to build from.. My friends and I dont ride trails, we make trails. Anything Toyota wants to put in a truck to help with that is an option I want.

    Currently running Goodyear DuraTracs with "ghetto" wheels
    I use my Toyotas to hunt and fish and the stock configuration won't cut it. Needed more aggressive tires and a couple more inches of lift, some of the 4wd roads have deep ruts. I also run chains up front in snowy conditions so again the lift helps.

    As for making trails its illegal on NFS and BLM land.

    Depends. The sport has built in satnav and way better touch screen and interior materials. AND it comes with a manual option, unlock the SR5. Plus the sport suspension can deff hold its own.

    This battle will never end. At the end of the day it's your money, get whatever you like and fit your needs. In my case, I have always like the look of the sports over the off road. I have own one Xrunner and three sports since 2005 and have never gone off road. Why would you get an off road if you don't go off road?

    The sr5 can have the same radio with satnav as the trd models. It used to be in the sonar parking package or whatever they called it.

    From what I gather here on this website. If you don't have an off road model. You are not worthy, yet if you have a pro model. You've wasted money.

    Guess you have to have an off road model to mall crawl and be accepted as a pavement princess. :bananadead:
