    this and that...
i highly doubt theyll introduce a new taco so close after the mid gen refresh. probably gonna stretch it out 10yrs before we see the next gen. 2025 sneak peek with it being a MY26 model. just imo of course.

New Tundra in 2021, new Tacoma probably in 2024-25ish I would guess.

Yeah this article most likely means the Tundra will be closer to the Tacoma to make it more streamlined. Not the other way around.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Article says Toyota hasnt pulled the trigger yet though. Setting up new robotic work cells and other efficiencies they mentioned will take time. If they really are going to share a platform for all trucks globally, that's a lot of design considerations to work out and plan for.

2025 might be about right for both trucks. Tundra might get minor update sooner that could be easily phased into current production lines.

It’s absolutely gonna be a tundra. That engine, as reliable as it is, is very outdated. The interior is ancient.

    V6 with twin turbos...

A beefier frame might not be a bad thing.

Beefier for tacoma. They can't build a half ton on a shared 1/4 ton platform. But they can build a heavy 1/4 ton on a half ton platform.

Remember that the 3rd generation Tacoma is basically a refreshed 2nd generation Tacoma that debuted in 2005.5, so that’s around 14 years old already. The body shell and rear doors are identical. We are probably looking at 2022-2023 until the all new 4th generation arrives.

    Q. Will they offer a manual transmission option?

I was thinking the same. Since they might go hybrid on next gens, 3rd gen might be last gen with MT... would be a very sad world:(

I could easily see this being a relatively short gen. As the industry shifts rapidly towards hybrids and electric, Toyota could easily deem the it not worth trying to retrofit similar into the current Tacoma.

I hope so. The cramped cabin is one of the biggest knocks on the Tacoma.

And that’s within the realm of possibility. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing for everyone involved...speaking from my side, I’d have at least secured my last actual gas jobber in manual that didn’t require 2 power sources that are touching balls under the hood.

Both trucks will share the same platform. Next generation Tundra will be slightly smaller.

It’s already huge as fuck what the hell. Anyone complaining about the flagship Toyota pickup being small needs to size up. That’s what the truck is...small. It isn’t TOO small. It’s fundamentally a small freakin truck.

I fully expect this to be my last fully gas vehicle. The day I can get an electric or hybrid Taco, I'll be on that shit like white on rice.
