Which configuration would be better?

  1. All 4 RED KC Cyclone lights - ALL BREAK, NO CARGO LIGHTS

    15.0%
  2. Two RED KC Cyclone lights and Two White Diffused KC Cyclone lights

    60.0%
  3. Nah, leave it stock

Do you have any suggestions for the gasket?

The OEM gasket comes already glued to the third brake light housing. Over at the stealership they pulled up the whole light housing and the gasket is not a separate part.

I imagine that when I remove the current third light housing it will have to remove the remaining pieces of gasket.

So, how do I get around it? Can I cut my own gasket? I know the OEM gasket is not smooth rubber, it’s kinda like sponge material...

Definitely DO NOT WANT ANY LEAKS.

    no no no.
You keep the stock light "base" on the cab. That is where the sponge gasket seals and is stock. The new housing just replaces your stock red lens. inside that lens is a little o ring that just transfers over.

So, I imagine this configuration is the OEM config using this switch?

And the harness that you picture in your above replies are on a 2006 Taco, yes?

Man! I really appreciate all the help and info.

Do you happen to know the wire config on the female plug that plugs into the back of the OEM switch??

Also, it shows 3 different part numbers for the female terminals. Which is the correct part number and how many I need??

12340 are available online in many places...the 24380 at Toyota Parts Store
A total of 6 are needed.
For the switch illumination you'd tap the solid green in your dash illumination circuit (any dash switch) to slot #1 and for slot #4 you'll need the green with white runner (dimming)

WOW! Reading (slowly and carefully) really helps - LOL! Thanks man, also, kinda same point than before - when I read the info on the switch and the housing, it tells me right there what part number I need.

    Thanks man.

So I’ll go with SIX P/N 24380 terminals - they are smaller diameter. The load are LEDs so there should be no problem, right??

    So:

    Pin #1 ILLUMINATION +
    Pin #2 nothing
    Pin #3 nothing
    Pin #4 ILLUMINATION -
Pin #5 FROM CARGO LAMP RELAY PIN 86
    Pin #6 nothing
    Pin #7 CHASSIS GROUND
    Pin #8 nothing
Pin #9 FROM CARGO LAMP SWITCH TO MAIN BECU
Pin #10 MAIN BECU TO CARGO LAMP SWITCH TO GROUND

Can you please explain pins 9 and 10. Do I just follow your instructions? You don’t mention BECU in your write up.

    You wrote:
“Deck/Cargo switch wire #9 to relay pin 30 - to 87a to Door switch circuit or Driver's door Courtesy switch. (-)
Deck/Cargo switch "ON" pin 30 goes to 87 - to ground (switching lights ON) relay to wire #10 provides ground to relay via wire #7.”

Takes me a minute to understand the abstract concept of electrical circuits as well as reading and understanding electrical circuits.

Sorry, your circuits that you sent me are friggin awesome, but I’m having a hard time following them - just want to make sure I completely understand everything.

Disregard the BECU, you're not tying into the 2nd Gen BECU. The tie in BECU is on a Tundra or 3rd Gen Tacoma...

A Carlig type DPDT switch will do same as the Tundra/3rdGen Tacoma Cargo switch and cheaper...

Trying to work that out right now, reached out to @MESO for a super-slick OEM look, I have envisioned something like this, but dunno if it’s doable.

    33B388E0-6EBF-4A34-91EC-86D7381C0A00.png

If it’s possible... it would be AWESOME!

If NOT... I would have to go back to the drawing board cuz I AM OUT OF “OEM” SPOTS.
