My tailgate was dusty, so my Brother-in-Law thought it would be funny to write "Hi Jason" in the dust with his finger. This is what my tailgate looks like after washing it. Sigh.

I have a bottle of Meguiars Scratch-X, and it will likely be able to remove most of the scratches, as they don't catch a fingernail too bad. Just venting I guess.

You have got to be kidding me. Are you sure that he just used his finger? Is the clear that delicate? Wash it again first.

have a professional detailer correct that. as long as its not too deep, should be no problem for a pro. anyway, charge your brother in law for it also...and give him a throat punch

It was a gas station car wash cleaning, not a detailing. That's why there is still some mud in the crevasses of the bumper and tailgate latch. The paint is clean though. I'm sure it will buff out without too much trouble, so I'm not losing sleep over it.

To be fully honest, I find the whole thing to be kind of humorous, in that sad sort of way life always finds a way to shive you in the gut in matters of the material. I'm definitely not saying anything to him about it. I'm sure it would bother him more than me, if he knew.

I have already pinstriped the vehicle a few time while wheeling, and there is that dent in the passenger side bed panel, that I'm about 90% certain the dealership put there on the 15k service visit but have no way to prove, that have already softened me up on this sort of thing.

Still I thought the 3rd gen forum would appreciate the red meat thread material.

I've had to deal with this for years. We live in the dirt, the truck is always dusty. The kids LOVE to run their hands down the side when they get in and out. Some light polish will remove the scratches. It's amazing how abrasive dust can be in between fingertips.

And my wife thinks Im crazy for washing my truck every other day... I got 2 kids and 8 more in the neighborhood who love to touch anything they can get their dirty paws on... no dirt on my truck = no scratches from the neighborhood kids.
