3rd gen OEM roofracks, show me!

Looking at getting a OEM roof rack. Want to see some pics and want recommendations on where to buy. Thanks in advance!

 

I bought one in my initial buying frenzy after buying my truck and kind of regret it. If you like the looks of it, go for it! However, I think there's better options for roof racks. The payload on the OEM is pretty low and it has no basket and only the two slats so you can't really carry smaller items and such. It seems to be good for carrying, ladders, kayaks, surfboard, maybe a canoe and that's about it as far as I can tell. If you buy one and install yourself, make sure to seal the holes with silicone and probably get better gaskets or you may leak into the cab like mine did.

 

search online and take that lowest price to your local dealer and order to make sure your'e getting oem. my dealer price matched at like $230 and i installed it myself. pretty simple to do.

I'll be using it for a small kayak just a couple times a year, not sure if I like the look or not though. Anyone have any pics?

12' Joe bark: 26 pounds
10'6" nsp sup: 30 pounds

= 124 pounds on the rack. 80 mph on he freeway. Bumping around off-road on fire roads and trails. The oem roof rack has done everything I need it to do.

If you are going to do a rtt, you should go prinsu to ha for the dynamic load of that set up.

But just for kayaks and boards, oem is great.

I’m one of the few that loves the look of the OEM roof rack.

 

I like mine. It holds kayaks and surfboards and the occasional piece of timber, and it doesn’t drag down the fuel economy when the bars are stowed. I did notice a minor wind noise increase at speeds above 55mph after I installed it, but it’s minor. Edit: added image

it was a couple years ago. my wife and I went to school there and we still consider it our second home. I just love upper bidwell and the surrounding area. god's country. Sad to see the the devastation, I went back shortly after the fires to help out and bring a truck load of supplies. Couldn't get in to the covered bridge, they had all the roads on lock down. Was glad we got to visit many of these places before they burned.

 

The factory roof rack is not a good looking piece.
It looks 18% better on a truck that's lifted.

 

I liked it ok until all the factory bolts started rusting away, now I have to either replace all of them or buy a new rack. It's nice that the arms fold in to cut down on noise, however they're not adjustable so if you need them to move closer/further apart, get something else. I'll probably take mine off and wait till I can get one of those flat-top style ones, I'd prefer to be able to tie some boxes down or something.

 

The bridge is gone unfortunately. I was there just a couple weeks ago and it's devastating to see. I hope it worked, but I linked in a photo from right after the fire.
