    2.5" lift w/35's
I opened cards to build credit, but I sometimes buy truck parts on them and pay them off in a month or 2. Sometimes pay a little in interest, but my I've managed it fine.

Im thinking the guy who decided he could make a 5" lift by welding in a shock body tube is the king. This is a close runner up though

Dude, don't be a dumb ass. Mods are far more enjoyable when you can afford them.

Okay I will try to be a responsible adult and build my truck slowly. My last question for this thread is were there any good deals for black friday(coupon %off) last year or are group buys better?

My girlfriend and I had to purchase a wheelchair accessible van for her and it's a 10 year loan. When we go it she said "life is payments!".

It's the truth though, you'll always be making payments, utilities, rent or mortgage.... She's so right!

Mod yo truck and love the heck out of it.
    :spending:

PS, the mods on her van were about 23k, the van itself was about 25k.

Spending money is great. But unfortunately, spending money you don’t have means you spend more money on interest to spend money.. so you’re spending money you don’t have, to repay banks on parts that are only depreciating in a truck that’s depreciating. Other guy was right. You need a bit of Dave Ramsey in your life.

For the love of God don’t take out a credit card to mod your Tacoma.

Just work side jobs and hustle your way through the mods paying cash. It will be so much more rewarding having EARNED the mods.

I think when it comes to quality of life, some exceptions can be made.

Just, when you proclaim you’re already bad with $$ getting a CC to further exasperate the situation isn’t always the best option

I kind of did it. I dropped around $12k and did it on a card. I was gonna spend it anyway, so why not get the most out of it? I knew I was gonna go on vacation, so I took advantage of a Chase Sapphire card for the sign up bonus and I wanted one for a while. Without some of the parts, it would delay installation. I'm a bit impulsive. So I got the card, got my bounus + cash back and balance transferred the remaining $3k for a 2% one time fee. 0% for 12 months. I'll have that paid off in 1-2 months. So the only fees or interest I'll be paying is $60. Thing is I am capable of executing and completing this. If you have a sure plan and there are other benefits, I'd say go for it. I made more in cash back and intro incentives than the $60 I gave to the creditors.

You want 7k but is bad at managing your finances?

Do you have good credit? No.
Then good luck getting a credit card that would give you 7k up front with 0% interest. If you can’t get a 0% interest promotion with a new card then don’t get one.

Do you have good credit? Yes.
Then you must be good at managing your finances. In that case there are a lot of options out there that will give you 12-18 months no interest. Some will even give you a $100-300 sign up bonus plus no interest.

If know how to use a credit card they are very beneficial. You can even make $100s just for using them. There’s nothing wrong with opening up a new credit card or having too much credit. Easier said than done of course and that’s how people fall into debt and the company make their money off you.

Thanks for sharing. That's pretty much my thought process on this whole credit card thing. I'd never just open up a credit card just to make the minimum payments and take the hit on interest. I do have a couple credit cards right now that I don't use because they don't offer me anything for what I buy other than using paypal credit.

Maximize benefits. Take advantage of 0%. Just don't dig yourself in a hole. Sure it could be bad to overspend and get trapped. But if you know the numbers, go for it.

I have a Chase Freedom, which does categories. So it's more than the standard 1.5%. Then with Chase, you can transfer points among cards. My credit limits are around $92k, I want to hit $100k. High limits without utilization inflates scores.
I opened a Chase Sapphire Preferred, which gives a 60,000 point bonus if you spend $4k or so in 90 days. Which equates to $600 cash or supposedly $750 if redeemed through them. I did receive the $600 cash already. From $12k I paid it down to around $3200. Transfered it to a 12 Months 0% with 2% transfer fee. Plan to pay it off within 2 months. Let's say something happens and I drag it out the year. Whatever remaining balance I have, I'd pay a flat of 1.5%/2% to transfer it again.

Amount paid in fees and interest: $64
Chase Sapphire Preferred Intro Bonus: $600 (that I can cash out now) or $750 in travel.
    Standard Cashback from usage $180

    At a minimum I pocket $716.
If I put it towards travel, which I will I'm saving $866.

Even after the annual fee of $99, I'm up $767.

If you do it, can make timely payments much higher than the minimums and you are over exerting spending and are relying on 0%, don't do it. But if you plan it, can pay it off at anytime with free funds without every eating APR interest, why not?
