Is it possible to fit two SKAR DDX 10s??

Bought my box online from https://www.hifisoundconnection.com. Cheap and perfect fit.

 

You can fit that sub if you move the rear seats forward. 6.1" mounting depth is a lot for what little room is back there.

 

I am currently experiencing the same issue with my Memphis Audio Mojo M6 8", even with a small section of the plastic removed the metal on the seat still pushes against the speaker when the seats are in a downward position. I need my seats to be able to fold downward because of my dog but the sub will hit. I am stuck in a catch 22 sort of deal. I notice the seats have some play room to scoot forward if you remove the headrests off of them. Do you know of anyone who sells spacer brackets for the backseats? They literally just need to move forward about an inch or so for perfect clearance.

 

All I've seen is people making their own brackets to move the entire rear seats forward. Not sure of anyone sells them or not.

 

I could imagine it's easy to Fab, but that's just time and effort I don't feel like putting in additional to all the install and stuff.

 

I have four DS18 8-inch subs in a custom enclosure I built. I had to take all the seats out to install everything and lined the whole inside with dynamat. The box I built actually has about a half cubic foot of space more than required for the four eights. Amps are under front seats, cross over under rear seat hatch and the caps are to. Loudest behind the seat Tacoma box I have ever heard. I was truly impressed with the eights, first eights I have ever owned.

 

1/2 cubic ft extra on 4 8's? With no mods to seats? Loudest behind seats Tacoma install! I call BS on both. Built in the truck, at most your getting 2 cu ft air space, no where near enough for 4 8's! You could go Solobaric with 2 cu ft (my previous setup), but 4 8's, no way. To get 3.25 cu ft to even fit 2 DC Sound Lab 8's in a CAD tuned ported box, major mods had to be done. 6 months, still work in progress...

 

Is it the metal on the seat hitting the speaker or the metal on the henge? If it's the metal on the seat, easy quick fix will get you buy....


Remove the 3 henges. With one in hand, try to rotate it. See how it stops at that little tab? Cut that tab off. Now it rotates all the way.

Now, reinstall the henges. BUT rotate them all the way so that instead of the seat backs resting in the henges, now your bolting the back of the henges to the seat back. It will lift the whole seat back about 3" and move it out a couple inches. Now, the brackets on the back wall where the seat back clips in....

Use whatever you want, make a spacer about an inch thick, flip the bracket upside down, use longer bolts.

Done. Sounds harder than it is, but it's quick, cheap, works. Once you have it setup you can take measurements and Fab up new brackets if you want.

 

FYI, 4 DD 6.5's with no seat mods will kill 4 DS 8's and about anything else in sound quality and DB competition So proven here, so many people have done it, thats why my DC project

Man, re-reading, before you do the mod, why on Earth are you folding the seats down so your pup can ride? Wouldn't he slip around on the hard plastic and fall into the speaker???? Why not a pet cover for back seats? Or, if just one 8", a flat faced box.

 

He's an 85 lb pitbull who is really well behaved back there. I set up a mat that just goes over the plastic and he lays down back there. I would do a pet cover, but I want to give him a nice flat surface to lay down in and the amp is another issue in which the backseat plastic is currently hitting before it can latch in.

 

I didn't say it was the loudest made, I said loudest I have heard, all I have seen are the pre fab boxes you see on ebay in the back of these trucks. I also didn't say there was no modifying done to the truck to get the space. Extensive cutting and hammering to get the space, and I don't have the plastic on the seats anymore and none on the walls behind the seats, also modified the seat brackets and latches.

 

I stand corrected, my sons extra cab box was 3.87 with four eights, my box was 1.98, sorry for the confusion! But the box I have is still the loudest I have ever heard in a double cab with the seats still intact, only heard boxes with tens and twelves, bought from ebay. The box is tuned to 37 htz. and all the subs share the space with on square port on the drivers side end of box. Had to cut out and hammer everything in the back of the truck and modify seat brackets and latches, and no plastic trim left back there on the walls or the seat.

 

I know this thread is a little old, but how are you liking your mojo 8 so far? I'm looking to put 4 of them behind my seats this summer and have them hooked up to a skar rp4500. I want LOUD.

 

I LOVE it personally! It's a freaking bomb in the truck every time I turn it up and it sure pounds for a little 8". The bass is nice and tight just how I like it, and precise with every hit.

Just a warning it will require a decent amount of modding if you want to keep your backseat retained the way it is. I had to cut a stop off on the seat brackets and then flip them, then hammer the seat back mounting bracket upwards slightly, and finally space out the lower seat outwards a half inch.

If you aren't going to do all this, disregard. If so, I can provide you more information you need to get it done. Just wanted to give you the warning in advance because this thing is massive as far as size goes.
