You’re missing the point! An engine swap is more work than I think you think it is. When I swapped a ZO6 LS 350 into my Cameron SS, the weight and size of the motor created a whole slew of issues.

Todd's housing is bent so I'm just swapping thirds. I did order a traction bar kit from Ruff Stuff though. I figure I'm gonna need it with 4.88s, a Detroit Locker, and 36" Swampers, lol. I'm probably going to cut the housing up to use as a wheel bearing replacement tool.

When have I ever done things easy lol. I understand it's not going to be easy but I know it'll be fun and rewarding. Also the 1uz weights 4lbs more than a 2gr.

And wiring...lots and lots of wiring. Every time I think I want to go find a Chevy 4.3 or a Ford 4.0 Cologne engine and build it into High Output Torgue Monster, I think about having to swap wiring harnesses, making the gages work, and all that other crap. I would imagine if you had the cash laying around, there are adapter kits, and premade wiring harnesses that would make life simpler, but the wiring harnesses are insanely expensive and they might not have one for your application.

It's just easier to start with a 4WD truck from Jump street. :drevil:

I know what's involved with doing it. Luckily the engine is a non vvti and runs on distributor caps so it's a really dumb engine compared to other ones. This means slightly less wiring.
I also now it's been done before and fits

Meant to post the above this morning, but I guess I forgot to hit the post button. However after a long day of slaving away getting my old ass kicked by the heat, this is the result:

To be honest, I was really expecting a bigger difference between these 36s and my LTBs. I'm barely going to have to trim the rear aft fender if at all. As for the 4.88 gears, I wasn't really impressed with those and was thinking that maybe I should have got 5.29s, but on the way home from the flexy picture shoot when I turned the corner on to my street in 2nd gear I pinned it to the floor. It shot off like a bat outa hell and I wound 2nd out so fast I hit third before I remembered there are kids in the neighborhood and I don't need to be hauling ass. That was freaking shocking.

I'm going to rant a bit... You can skip it or read it if you're bored LOL

I'm really not enjoying the process of pulling permits... I already hate the idea of having to pull a permit, for permission, to build something on my own land, that's paid off, that i already have to pay taxes on, but then having to get multiple pages notarized, then fill out a notice of commencement and have it filed with the courthouse AND the building department as well, also notarized, is just bullshit.

Not to mention i have to show them the distance from my house, sheds, carports etc to every property line and between every other building on my property on the site plan... Not just the new proposed garage I'm getting the permit for.

Permits and licenses are just the government's way of charging you for what should be your American rights.

It wouldn't be so bad if they just asked where are you wanting to put it, i proved it wasn't close to a property line, and then i could build... But this shit is crazy.

TL/DR: Permits suck. Lots of paperwork.

    On another note...

I'm debating between using the garage as a garage... Putting a 2 post lift in there, a big air compressor, tools and stuff and using it when i need to work on a vehicle...

    OR...

Throwing a pool table, air hockey table, dart board, bar and fridge in there and making a pretty sweet man cave...

I mean... How often will i REALLY work on a vehicle compared to how often will i drink and shoot pool... It's a tough choice. For the price of the 2 post lift i could deck out a man cave game room LOL

But on the other hand when i actually have to work on a vehicle I'll be glad to have the lift.

    Decisions decisions.

I have my itinerary planned. Should take me 7 days if I get help with the moutor mounts before she's ready to rock and roll.

edit: and is it just me hallucinating or did they add some kind texture to the screen?

This is what your engine bearings with 180k+ miles on them look like after you roast your engine until it shuts down
(in spite of the temp gauge reading normal)...

    D7GAF3VsPJKWnzZ8heGoW2SvVsdWDUrmTGUe-_yC_6bb9254e6ba86160982ead71baae559b449e600d.jpg

    New rod bearing for comparison...
    kY_o2oO2-TYl9vF-53lcLsZ_P4InNWAIw4qVCAxO_e636aae136d62f1af8bbea7b52488e2b1a37cf72.jpg

The crank was pretty scored too--not "oh, shit! I spun a bearing" scored, but definitely more that "that'll polish up with a little crocus cloth". I imagine my mains look similar. Nothing I can do about that though. If I was going to drop the crank to put new mains in then I might as well put the engine and rebuild the whole thing.

Anyway, the rod bearings are replaced and will hopefully last a few thousand more miles. All I need to do not is change my motor mounts, and I'll be ready to button things back up.

Can someone in the central Florida area (Tampa-Orlando-Sarasota) pretty much a few hours from Tampa, keep an eye out for a SSM Scooped hood for sale or trade? I’ve tried my hand in the hood swap thread but that’s like a circle jerk of flat hoods trying to pounce on a scooped hood.

I thought I had found a nice one yesterday, even had it swapped and was bolting it to my truck when I noticed a pretty nice dent on the crease of back end near the windshield. Trader claimed he didn’t know and we swapped back because my hood is dent free and he wanted cash on top of the trade. That really amped up my search.

If you know or might know someone reach out or have them reach to me and I’ll buy you a beer or something for helping facilitate.
