Another 99 v6

I just got this back from the shop where I had a full body paintwork done (and yes, I realize Maaco may be getting their act together recently but this was not going to be a Maaco job). It has 87K CARFAX verified miles, is the V6 4WD variant, and I had it shipped from Texas to Colorado in March. No rust that I can tell except for the stuff that comes with age, but I'll take it to the dealership next weekend just in case.

I didn't realize how much I liked the 98-00 Tacomas until the one I had before it got totaled in an accident.

And yes, this has by no means been a cheap effort. But I'm going for original. I did skimp a bit and spray paint the center caps.








This is how the car was when I flew into town to see it. I had spotted the listing online and got a mechanic's review done remotely. I will say, it looks like Texas is the place to find good vintage 1st-gen Tacomas.


The seller was nice enough to insist to the transport crew (since I had it picked up while I wasn't there) that the Tacoma should not be on the top rung or in front to prevent chips and rocks from scratching the body.

It looks great! You've got a real "time capsule" going there. Texas is a great place to find a vintage Taco.

I have to agree with ya on the front end style. I used to think our 98-00 was the ugliest but it's grown on me, I put it right there with the early 95-97 front now. Yours looks to be very very nice. I certainly wouldn't be bugged if you posted some close ups of that pro paint job

 

What happened to the skid plate? I just noticed that I can see the radiator bottom.
