I recently test drove a 2010 double cab SR5 with 181K miles. Being new to Tacomas I just wanted to get a feel for how it drove and I was very impressed. Very responsive, very tight steering and overall smooth ride. No frame rust, no leaks, and had an added 2" lift, Pioneer display and tow brake control. They're asking $16,900 which I think is WAY too high for 181k miles, however, I considered offering $14,000. I didn't go with the intent on purchasing but wanted to ask the TW community about buying a Taco with 150k+ miles since I'm new to the Tacoma market and very apprehensive about buying any vehicle with over 100k miles.

    2010 Tacoma: https://www.spradleybarronline.com/...a0a0e0ae85624a465a2a8b2b3.htm?searchDepth=3:4

Thoughts on this truck and in general shopping for a Tacoma with 150k+ miles?

    Thank you!

My opinion, lower mileage is always better but these trucks are known to go 300+ without major issues. They also have high resale value so expect to pay a premium for a low mileage truck. Personally I would not hesitate to buy one with 181K if the truck was in exceptional condition. Three years ago I purchased mine with 199K from the original owner. I now have 208K miles and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Nice truck! If the truck has been meticulously taken care of, the high mileage wouldn’t steer me away from purchasing it. I’d rather purchase a great condition Tacoma with high miles than poorly maintained lower mile one. The topper is a definite plus! If this is within your Year model/color etc preference, definitely go for it especially if you can have it under $15k. Good luck with the search.

I wouldn't let the miles scare you off, but the price would. Nice truck, but their price is 17.7k which seems high. For comparison, here is a newer 2012 TRD OR in Colorado with 122k miles at around the same price (no affiliation, just a simple CL search): https://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/d/peyton-2012-toyota-tacoma/6926324642.html

Unless of course you are set on a DCLB, which are harder to find. The one you posted in the OP (with a topper) may not be that far off. If you really want a DCLB and this color works for you, then you might be advised to go in at 15-16k and see what happens.

150k is not high if you have been the only owner.

150k is high if there was an owner before you

One thing I’ve noticed is although these truck have a good resale and hold value well. People take advantage on a regular basis of that. And that’s exactly what this dealer is doing. I wouldn’t pay that, not even close.

That’s about $22000 cdn and close to 292,000km...I bought my ‘13 TRD SPORT DCLB with about 83,000km (52,000 miles) and out the door $29,000cdn. (22,250usd)

    Way overpriced, Tacoma or not.

181k of “my” miles would be fine.

Unless it was in immaculate shape my normal cutoff for a used vehicle is 100k -120k.

I have a 2010, with 180k miles on it. Still runs great and I just put a few K into it to fix some leaks.
I was going to purchase a new truck but I couldn't find a good deal that could replace what I already own.
I did however get an independent appraisal for trade in purposes. It came in at $10k....and not one dealer out there would match that appraisal.
So the short they are asking WAY to much.....and sure I just decided to keep a Tacoma with 180k miles on it for at least 2 more years......I'm the original owner though....I'd sell you mine for 10k..lol

There are miles, and there are miles. 180K smooth highway miles is one thing. 180K dirt road miles is another. Unfortunately, it's near impossible to know what those 'miles' really were on a used vehicle.

My 2007 only has 90K miles, but some of those miles... whew!

Does it have a car fax? At least with that you see how much mileage was put on by each owner or the only owner etc etc..... Might just be highway miles. Might not.

You can find a truck with a lot less miles for the same price.

Reading the prices folks paid here, I feel like I got a Hella steal. My 2015 ACSB Base 4x4 2.7L was a one owner with 4,898 miles. Yes, 5k miles. Paid $23,000 cash out the door all taxes and fees included. Sale price was roughly 21 grand. Feelin like I got an amazing deal. The thing is mint mint mint.
