There were/ are issues with both gens.
Proof is all over this place, most of it is usually owner/ user error though.

I cannot imagine a $60k Ranger Raptor impacting Tacoma sales, the ZR2 and the Bison do not.

If you aren’t happy with the truck just get rid of it. If you think it’s not performing as good as a previous gen or whatever or a different make sell it. This isn’t rocket science:pray::frusty:

It will not stop as long as they’re car drivers wanting to be cool and drive a truck and then complaining because it doesn’t drive like a car.

I came from a 1998 Dodge and the HP was lower but the TQ was higher . I really do not notice much of a difference with my boats . From what i read , the 4,0 was not as good .

There are numbers of head gaskets and motor mount issues in early 2nd gens.

Thats not what i was asking.

    3.5 fail on inclines
    4.0 doesnt

Fits the op original question since inclines offroad are common

But only being a handful that have done so on a incline. This could be attributed to user error more than a real truck issue.

    By driving up an incline?

In the run from 2005-2015, how many 4.0 have had this user error?

No. You can have power OR economy. They can exist on the same platform but not at the same time. Anytime you want power the only way you can do it economically is to give up speed, cue a diesel engine.
The math won't let power and efficiency and speed happen together, at least with today's technology.

Again... saying that 3 trucks represent the 100's of thousands they have sold isn't a good statistic to judge by.

Yet the longer run and more flooded second gen market without this exact issue should be.

    Ill just agree to disagree

As far as I am concerned, the truck is fine. Does what I need it to do day in day out. Doesn't fuss much, just like my 2nd gen. Still runs when broken, just like my 2nd gen. And is pretty capable in the dirt for a 2wd just like my 2nd gen.
More computers and tech than the 2nd gens that lead to more expensive parts and repairs, but over all its s decent truck and so was the 2nd gen. Legendary status for both, nah. There are better more capable vehicles out there. The Tacoma is good for what it is weekend warriors and working folks.
