Just purchased a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Love it, however the A/C Blower makes extra and excessive noise. The blower noise goes up and down and on and off about every 20 seconds. So far the local dealer is trying to tell me it is normal. I disagree.

Not sure about the 19, but on the 17, there is a recall for the blower motor. I can't see personally how that activity is normal.

Do you have automatic climate control? I have the manual control and it does not go up and down as you say. The blower can be a bit loud on high, but not excessive. Maybe you could go back to the dealer and have the service writer sit in a few different trucks on the lot with you and compare.

I don't believe I have automatic climate control. I have talked to the dealer. They are claiming it is normal. I disagree. They will be calling Toyota tomorrow. So they say.

Easy way to settle it is, like I said earlier, select a few trucks at random on the lot and see what they sound like. Calling Toyota is not going to yield much results, as they can not hear what you hear, they are only going off what the dealer personnel tells them.

I think what you are describing is the dreaded Darth Vader breathing. Or at least that's how most describe the noise. Like air is being let out every 20 seconds or so. My 19 does this as well. Do you notice the compressor howl every now and then too?

Is that the reason why my 17 blows ac like it’s blowing through a straw? I’ll have it at full blast and it feels like it’s at a level 2?

I doubt it, it's for the fan itself breaking and sounding like you have a spinning box of gravel behind the glovebox.

Have you checked your cabin filter? It is common for critters to bring leaves and debris in that area.

I haven't received a recall on my 2017 and I was just at the dealer and nothing was mentioned. How did you hear of this recall?

My (non auto a/c) is a little noisy at full blast but doesn't go past a set level. I will say for some reason, it feels like it takes longer to cool the cab down than prior cars I've had, but that could just be me.

It's only for ones with manual climate control
