Look at it like they are two separate mods. One does not Trigger the other one. They work independently. Therefore, if I wanted to just use my Tailgate Lock I could or if I just wanted to use my Tailgate Opener I could do that.

You can wire the Tailgate Opener to the Lock or Unlock Side. Really, it comes down to however works best for you. However, DSIM’s Relay is going to make things so simple with the three clicks of Unlock. I cannot wait. My OCD of being able to click three for Unlock and my Tailgate Opens and three for Lock and my Truck Starts is Badass! When we first started talking about it and I misunderstood him and thought he said Lock, I told him that wouldn’t work because that’s my automatic start. Then he told me Unlock but then was throwing other ideas out there. I was like nope. Three Unlock clicks Done. Fits perfectly with my OCD!

    Hey everyone,

I am working on the brains here. I apologize that it has taken some time since the concept but I am really trying to nail down something that is mass produce-able. Some of the time has been the learning curve of designing custom PCBs. I was originally going to use a 4 relay module that I used as a proof of concept but it was very bulky and had an absolute rats nest of wires in the enclosure. I decided to learn how to layout and route a custom PCB and have gone through about 3 iterations of pcb designs. Below is the latest.

For now the TR7 is handling the logic and will be hidden inside the enclosure. Future I plan to incorporate a micro-controller that handles the logic of the 3x unlock and potentially the park/ign relay lockout logic as well. That will take some time to get nailed down.

There are 2 harnesses that will come out of the module. A-Harness is for the standard 3x unlock functionality. It will be direct PNP into @KTJO 4x4 s PopnLock T-Harness and her harness that will run back to the tailgate for the open actuator. The B-Harness will come later once I get some mass produced but will be an add-on for people wanting to run a push button. The push button will have the interlocks of (If IGN OFF then OPEN, If IGN ON AND PARK ON then OPEN). To prevent opening while driving.

I ran into some issues with power, standard JST connectors use 22AWG wire. But the actuator has a somewhat large power draw that requires larger gauge wire. The smaller gauge wire I originally used resulted in too much of a power loss causing the actuator to not pull at 100% and not fully disengaging the latch. Currently I have a wire to board concept done for 18AWG but I am researching using some Molex connectors that will work with a larger current draw for the A-Harness as well.

I am trying my best to not rush this out and make sure the due diligence is done. I am absolutely not gonna start selling these until everything is ready, proven, and easily manufactured so I can meet demand. I am getting close but I ask that you all bare with me. I have the latest circuit boards in house and will be doing some more testing this weekend to make sure the power issue is resolved. Then it's just buttoning up the last bits to make it easier to mass manufacture.

I have not released a price on the brains yet because it would be foolish to do so until I have a complete Bill of Material of parts I will use and no time study on my time to make one of the final design iteration. Once I have those I'll release cost, I think it will be the $60-$70 range.

Stay tuned, and thanks for being patient folks. I'll be happy to answer any questions. :)

I don't mind posting that. There's way more traces going on in that board than you can see from the pictures. If someone really wants to reverse engineer it they could do so by buying one and poking/prodding with a multimeter.

Thanks for considering my IP :) @KTJO 4x4 And thank you for being patient as well I know you have been wanting to get this out for awhile as well with your half of the work done. Just want to make sure all T's are crossed and i's dotted before I get this out to actual customers. The 2-3 week hiatus to get married didn't help my timeline, but ya know... Priorities :)

    UPDATE:
    1. Order has been placed for the Tailgate Opener Integrated Harnesses - 200 QTY
    2. Ran into a little hiccup with the Dual Socket Butt Connectors and having to purchase them from two different places but in two entirely different quantity amounts that didn’t make any sense. Therefore, I have made some adjustments and I ordered some Green Dual “V” Wires to replace the Single “V” Wires - 100 QTY and some Black Dual “V” Wires to replace the Single “V” Wires - 100 QTY. (I’ll order more later)
Here’s a look at mine during one of my modification phases showing the Green Dual “V” Wires on the one side.

This is very cool, sorry if this has been asked already, I read through and didn’t see this but I have the pop n lock brand, what add ons would I need to make this work? Or would I need to replace it with the complete kit?

    Thanks

Still no answer to confirm payment sent about a month ago. Any ETA on confirmation or when these will be shipped? I know you are busy. But zero response is kind of concerning.

I actually got somewhat of a confirmation.
I believe she has been trying to follow up with everyone that PMd her during the vacation period.

Guess the biggest priority was getting the power folding mirrors out.

Pretty sure she will get to you.

Take a look at the first page under the Tailgate Opener Complete Kit. It list everything you need to make it work. Looks like what you have would be considered our BNL. Let me know if you have any other questions
