No, It's the low range of the transfer case you get in 4 lo. Only its 2wd. The front doesn't engage. Useful for low speed maneuvers like launching a boat or backing up a steep hill.
You get the power of low range, but you don't bind up because the front wheels aren't being driven by the transfer case.

 

The transfer case in a Tacoma does two things:
1: sends power to the front driveshaft when 4wd is selected.
2: low range gear reduction when 4lo is selected, the ratio is 2.57:1

If I understand correctly, this mod tricks the 4wd computer into not activating the ADD, but doing all the transfer case shifting when you select 4hi/4lo. The effect is when the button is pushed and you put the truck in 4lo, you have the gear reduction of lo range but because the ADD didn't activate, neither of the front wheels get power.

You should just switch to the car solutions front / rear camera. Then you get that button back and just use the factory steering wheel buttons

Amazon shows out of stock. Its a good idea but my understanding is that it shuts off after 30sec. My reverse camera mode that I wired in comes on anytime the button is pushed. Ive alredy ordered a double switch but its coming from China, cheap though..
