Solved the problem: I did an add a fused on the AC and the reason it’s sporadic is because I don’t always have the AC on

Looks good, only thing I could add is to try and get the positive terminal cover on your power connector. This little guy upload_2019-7-14_9-37-53.jpg

I used my heat gun to expand it just enough to get it off and on to my other cable.

Which fuses did you use the add a circuit to? If you did the AC, you’ll have to turn on your AC for it to turn on

I got my install about 3/4 done today. It's not powered up but I'm closer. One issue I had was my vertical brackets. My truck is a manual and I never removed the clutch fluid reservoir to test fit. Needless to say there was a ton of interference so I scrapped it and went flat. 20190714_131946.jpg after that it went pretty well. Since I had cut the wires for vertical mounting I did have to splice an inch or two onto the #2 wire as it had more tension on it than I was comfortable with. The others were still ok. Lots of cussing and more blind work than I wanted but I found all the fasteners I dropped and even my 10mm socket. Also I cut some of the tray off on the front left side to make clearance to put the fuse box lid back on. I highly recommend that! So much easier.20190714_160713.jpg

@Shellshock is there a punchout or something to get the wires into the fuse box? I didn't see any access into mine. Curious how you got the 3 wires in there.

Did you cut the ring terminal off on the positive side and reterminate? I bought the SDHQ terminals as well but looking at the stock length of the positive lead, I don't think I can cut the ring off and reterminate without running short........cheap Toyota bastards.

How do you have the positive side hooked up to the terminal? I don't see a top post mount like you have on the negative side.

You take the bolt out of the factory positive and the ring comes off. You can then attach the factory wires directly to the SDHQ terminal. The negative side they include a post or a new end that you can use for connection. I went with the post because it was easy and I didn’t have to cut the factory wiring.

The switch pro Positive is connected to the connection point on the rear of the SDHQ terminal.

    Couple questions:

    - with the SP 9100 and a BD S8 light bar 40" is there any point in getting the 75 dollar wire harness? i'm assuming the bar comes with a positive and negative that I can just run to the terminal and negative blocks instead of wasting money on the harness then cutting out the inline fuse and relay.

    - I see most people are running their setups horizontally on the power tray brackets. That option looks super clean and ideal for me, however, I have seen the HUGE caution and potential warranty void if water gets into the contacts. Looking for general thoughts on this? I have also seen some guys with the vertical brackets for the power module and attaching that to the power tray, anyone selling those?

I'm a wiring newb, but have read this thread multiple times and convinced on this hardware.

I was able to connect to the original Toyota terminal without replacing the terminal connectors if that’s what you were talking about

Yeah, it appears the ring terminal is crimped on (I may be mistaken and I'll have a second look at it and peel back some more of the electrical tape).

The positive should have a post you can attach to and the negative I attached to the ground that’s attached to the frame. It works with no problems. When I have more time and want to get into it I’ll probably replace the terminal connectors with the military type.

All my rigid stuff came with a harness I just chopped. I’m not sure what BD comes with but if you skip the harness I’d still want a waterproof plug at the light so you can disconnect it if necessary without having to redo the wiring

The manual says to mount it vertical. Seems people that have had issues have mounted it horizontal and get corrosion as the water will not drain out of the connector. I was going to put in a tray with bus bars etc but then saw the posts about leaving positive connections exposed and decided I’d just keep doing what I’ve been doing as I haven’t had any issues and I’m not changing things around, only adding new things from time to time.

There is no reason to waste money on the harness with a Switch Pro. The S8 comes terminated with a weatherpack connector and it comes with the other connector that you can use to make your own harness. You will need a weatherpack crimping tool though.

I got this one and it works fine.
