It started making this sound, suddenly. I had driven home from work, parked for about 20 minutes. I got back in and it started making this noise.
    Please help.

It’s pretty hard to determine the issue without a description or a video. Post something up on YouTube and share the link so we can try and help ya out

It does it all the time. Idling in neutral, and in gear driving. You can’t hear when I rev that the tone goes higher. It seems to be louder when in gear and braking.

Take something like a broom handle or long screw driver and place it on the top of the alt and PS pump then put your ear to the other end and pinpoint where the sound is coming from.
NOTE: engine is running, so watch those fingers....

It’s pretty loud through a 1/2” dowel Rod on the alt.
Pitch doesn’t change when turning steering wheel. Different sound at PS pump.

Put the dowl on the alt and listen, then move it to the block next to the alt. Is it louder on the alt or block?

If sound still there after disconnecting wire you can try taking alt belt off and turn alt pulley and feel if theres rumble rough feeling or listen if it growls to pin point if its alt .If not check other pullys and idlers same way .

Before buying any parts, take the alt off and go over to NAPA and have them bench test it.

Thanks Chris for mentioning the alternator, which lead me to YouTube.
Here is what mine is doing.https://youtu.be/ghT7-f2dFlg
So would replacing the alt be best or is there a fix?

I have a crap speaker on my phone, so I am imagining the sound from memory.
Ordering a replacement alt will be fastest. You can order components and rebuild your own for less $, or find a shop that can rebuild it.
OE is most recommended, but lifetime warranty Autozone/Orielly/NAPA have been good to me in the past as long as there wasnt another issue that caused the failure.
If you buy a new (rebuilt/reman) one, get the tow package alt even if you dont have the tow package.
Even parts I know are bad still get a trip up to NAPA to get tested.
There should be a few vids on replacing the rectifier assembly.
