Hello all, I'm facing a tiny issue with my air intake. I have a 2002 1st Gen Tacoma extra cab TRD off-road, and I wanted to replace the intake tube, but it seems like there's a small difference in the size of the chamber towards the top. Apologies for my lack of technical vocabulary: I've included pictures, I could technically just bypass the black box connected to the tube to the new intake, but the hose isn't long enough, and the rubber ends aren't the same diameter. Does anyone know what I could do? I can't seem to find the exact air intake tube truck has, so my other option would be to buy another hose, I just don't know what part it's called for a longer one. Someone please help this amateur out.

Where does the other end of the hose go? I’m thinking you might have EGR. Your new tube looks like the one both of my tacos have (that don’t have EGR)

Also the “nipple” in the new tube is removable. If you take it out are the dimensions correct?

That hose goes to a port on the driver's side valve cover. It's the fresh air vacuum line for the PCV. People have already rattled off options, but the cheapest is to just get a hose that fits and then reduce or couple it to fit the hose you have now. It's probably 5/8" and then goes down to 1/2" by the time it hits the valve cover. Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts sells couplers for connecting different sized hoses to one another.

So I tried removing the "nipple", but the ends are different sizes. The one with the nipple is just too small. Looks like I'll just have to find a longer tube.
