So, I know a lot of folks here are gonna hate on the price and yah, it’s high. However I will say that I bought my truck from This dealership and it was basically the only dealership in San Diego county that didn’t try to rape buyers with a “market adjustment” on the pros. I found that to be pretty respectable since they could have been on the bandwagon like all other dealers in the area. Props to Frank for that even if they are trying to make a little extra cash on those wheels ( personally I don’t think they are that bad but I do like the stock pro wheels better). Also, that Supra isn’t for sale. I think it’s the owners or something.

That wheel package is about 4200 or something but they're asking 5199 for it. Total cost of this truck is $53,174

Very true but these cars are getting more rare... And with the new one coming out with all the BMW goodies, I think these will just keep climbing up.
I had 3. Just sold my last one for over $15k from what I paid for it a year ago ;-)

The real question is, why do those wheels need 48 bolts? lmao

To make Rachel at Chili's stare in aw because she doesn't know any better that there's drum brakes hiding behind the back ones.

IMO the prices we're seeing are all part of a large asset bubble fueled by low rates not the rarity. They made 47,000 MK4 Supras total and in the big scheme of things that's not rare.

I'm not reading this whole thread. But dealerships do this because it works. Not everyone has the time, skill or knowledge to modify a vehicle on their own....or even know where to take one to have it done.

We think every Taco owner thinks, acts and behaves exactly as we do. But in reality, we live in a bubble here on TW, detached from the vast majority of the buying public. We account for but a small percentage of the actual number of Tacoma owners out there.

Dealerships do this because it works. And it works in more than one way. Either someone comes in and sees that particular rig and says, "wow...love it. I want it"...and drives it home. Or someone who may want a Pro or a Limited but really can't afford it might think..."you know, I could buy this SR5 which is more in my budget, and slowly mod it down the road". And it's also there just to help generate a bit of excitement for buyers walking into the showroom. Regardless, someone will buy it and it will also influence someone to buy another one out on the lot. They all do it around here...Chevy, Ford, Dodge. The Jeep dealerships have several Bro-Jeeps sitting on their lots at any given time and people buy them like pork rinds at Walmart. Can't make enough of them.

And dealerships are for-profit businesses. They have every right to charge a premium for additional work if they choose to. I'm sure some of you out there are business owners. Surely you understand that? The buyer ultimately decides if that work is worth it to them.

And I'm not defending dealerships here. But you walk into any other type of business and pop down your cash or credit card without a thought. But once you're at a dealership, it's suddenly..."f**k these people". It's a business. They're there to make money. And yes, often times they have a lot of overhead to cover. Paying dozens of employees, big expansive shops to service hundreds of vehicles a week, and those big comfortable customer lounges with food, water, TVs, WiFi and big soft chairs. You think dealerships wanted to invest money into that? Of course not. But that's what customers demand these days.

And one last thing. I've yet to ever see a dealership modified vehicle that was any more ridiculous then some of the unadulterated nonsense you see right here on TW.

Only 4038 Turbos with manual transmission were ever sold in the USA. Most of which were likely heavily modified in the early 2000s.

There's likely well under 500 left-hand drive, GTE Supras that haven't been heavily modified, left in North America. For reference, Acura sold more NSX in North America in 2017 alone than that.

The Supra itself isn't rare, but the desired configuration certainly is.
