Not fond of dealers like that at all. I get where they are coming from but it can be a make it or break it sale for me. I wanted to test ride my 690e before i bought it and they said sure just sign a few papers within seconds.

So anyway, folks have any opinions about hitch carriers for lightweight motorcycles?

Yeah thats what i'm leaning toward currently. Pretty much the oonly solution that i'm aware of, just wondering if there are any aftermarket options that might be cheaper

Also, do you know if the back plate/ gaskets/ hardware from the custom will fit on the low mount? or would I have to order all that too?

You need to get the them and also a harness with lights as they are different. Check eBay.

There’s the Joker Machine speedo relocate that puts your gauge off to the left or the tank. All in one housing so it might work for you too if you like the aesthetic.

This is my post from HDforums on the subject, where the guy was asking about relocating the speedo as well:

I would relocate the speedo. The autometer 3209 is what most folks do, relocated to the tank bolt. That is what I have done and I love it. This does not relocate your indicator lights though. There are options out there for either, like DK or Joker Machine. Lots on ebay, too.

Speaking of, what are you looking to do with your indicator lights? That will determine what you do with your clamp. I found a used HD clamp that had integrated indicator lights. If you don't want or can't find OEM you could go with DK or Joker Machine (again)

Wow, thanks for all that! I checked those out but idk if I like the look of the speedo next to the tank like that. Think I wanna keep it up by the bars. I guess the HD low mount is my only option for that

I believe there are other sub- models that had a similar set up, but I don’t know how your indicator lights are set up.

I have a '99 1200C. From what I understand I would need to replace my indicator lights with part number 68382-96 in order to run the low mount

If you found something like this from the same period as yours, it might work without having to switch the indicator lights: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-HARLE...P-DYNA/293150210844?fits=Make:Harley-Davidson. I messed around with a bunch of different options on mine so I feel like I may have helpful experience but then again I may not know anything about the Customs. Let me know if you're looking for a hand when the time comes. I am always down to ride up!

Nice, i'll keep looking and see what I can find. I'll holler once I figure out what i'm gonna do. We can work on it then take it for its inaugural ride with the new setup! I'm gonna be putting on 14' apes and also have a 1.5 inch tank lift and coil/ ignition relocation that i'm gonna do w/ a wire tuck, hopefully all on the same day

Nice! I need to do my wire tuck. I've got a 1.5" lift, too, but never got around to the wire tuck. I would love to do a coil/ignition relocate as well but because of the dual plug heads needing a different coil they don't sell brackets for my bike. Need to get my fab guy working on this project (@fatfurious2)!

Let me know. 14"-ers are going to look awesome on that bike!
