Check engine light / code 2437

Wow ! What a journey! My 2012 Tacoma v6 4x4 threw up a check engine light a few days ago. The TRAC OFF Light came on too. The biggest problem was the truck would almost not move ! Like when your rear tires slip on ice or mud, the gas pedal ignores your input. I got on the freeway, it took a mile to get up to 60 mph ! I thought the problem was in the wheel sensors, but it wasn't. I had an auto parts store scan it. The code that came up was 2437. "Secondary air injection system fault" I limped home and started looking and reading ! After the engine cooled I started it and made sure the injection fan runs, it did! Cleaned the filter, good. I took all the electrical connectors apart on the air injection system, cleaned and lubricated them. I checked both sensor hoses, reattached them. As I was under the hood , I installed new spark plugs. I put everything together and the lights are OFF ! So, my owners manual didnt say this, but with this emission problem, my truck went into LIMP MODE !!

 

Yep, and there's a warranty extension for 2012s. Toyota will fix it for free.

 

Someone told me that they would not fix it if the Miles are over 150K , is that true ? I know on Tundra , they fix it , and modify the air intake to the air pump. ..

Delete the SAI with HPTuners and be trouble free going forward. Welcome aboard
