ah yeah I'm not too sure how the hard line gets replaced but I'm sure it's fairly straightforward like the others.

Upgrading all 4 is a good idea, the rears are especially important to get longer ones since they can get over extended when flexing on the trail. I waited a long time to do mine and think I got really lucky I never broke the stock one

    yep.

My FIL has been wanting to convert his 90-something Dodge Ram 2500 to disc brakes, so we're going to have brake mod day next saturday, get it all knocked out.

want to convert mine too? lol. Crazy to think that even some Nissan Frontiers had front/rear disc brakes in the early 2000s. I kind of understand why Toyota still uses drums but discs are so much easier to work on and maintain.

I do 15psi on 99% of trails I'm on. Maybe 20 if I know I'm just doing easy fire roads, or I'll go down to 10-12 if I'm up in Pismo in the sand dunes

Yeah it was dusty alright... Ryan @Shmellmopwho captured a good photo of me kicking a ton of dust into my own face haha

Looks like I drove over a dust mine

do you know if these are extended at all? it doesn't say anything about any extended length over stock, so I'm guessing not, but want to make sure.

also, these attach directly to the caliper? so I wouldn't need to buy a hard line replacement to with them?

I'm considering these from Headstrong, since the front lines are 1" extended, and i can get all four as a kit.

Front lines don't need to be extended, not like the rears do...fronts in stock length have enough slack in the to account for droop unless you're gonna long travel maybe. Usually with the fronts you just want to upgrade to something stronger like SS lines. The rears you definitely want extended ones though.

I could be wrong I'll let @theesotericone one chime in cause he's got way more experience than I do, but the fronts I installed and have helped others install have been the same length as stock, just stronger/better quality lines.

So I'm wondering if these account for the length to attach directly to the caliper? so I would only need to purchase the lines?

I like that the Headstrong kit has a small amount of extra, I figure an extra inch would be good, (they have a set that are +5" over stock for long travel applications, that's obviously not necessary) maybe a little less tension on the lines might have given the line enough slack not to break in that situation?

I'm not sure if those lines are meant to be just one piece directly to the caliper...I would assume they are meant to attach to the hard line coming off the caliper like my Stoptech SS lines were, but maybe not. Can always shoot @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc an email, they are quick to respond in my experience

In your situation the hard line got ripped out of the fitting. No amount of extra length on the flexible line would have prevented it.

The hard line goes up to a mount and the rubber oem line then plugs into that hard line. So it will be needed unfortunately. Pic attached.

yea, and mine broke off at that coupling, on the hard line side of it. Are there any options out there that don't require replacing the hard line? something that plugs directly into the caliper?

Nothing that we know of. It is a pretty small fitting to plug a line directly into. :notsure:

I see. That product says for solid axle only, not compatible with IFS.

This is the post I was going by. Maybe I misinterpreted what he meant by "to the caliper" as meaning directly to the caliper.
