He is fine. His time is simply occupied by other responsibilities currently.
Please no one send extra pm's as it will only take more of his time when he gets back to us.
Just trust that all is good with him but his focus is elsewhere (for now).

    Thanks,

    Roost

Trans temps are similar to any other reordered numbers of mine, simply because i almost ALWAYS make sure im in lockup in 4th or 5th, I hate running in non lockup in 4th or 5th at speed (HWY speeds) under load... temps just get out of hand way way too quick regardless.

That stated, the v10 trans tune + 2nd revision of my ACIS changes (which i will post about in full detail tomorrow) has made it to where I dont have to baby the truck under those circumstances nearly as much to get it to stay in lockup. Just got home from a total of 1150 miles of loaded down driving, and I gotta say this last revision of my trans tune was the ICING on the cake. Being able to pull rolling hills in 5th lockup the entire time with a bed and cab full of camp gear, while towing a trailer with a Honda Grom and a Kawi 650sx standup jetski was awesome. Also being able to hold 4th gear lockup at 65-70 up the backside of the grapevine (4k ft elevation gain in not many miles) in 104*F heat was indeed AMAZING to help trans temps stay under control.... as even with being in lockup, due to coolant temps and ambient temps being way up... trans temps were up around the 200*F mark as well.

FYI.... the VCM Scanner software already has both trans pan (Tran Fluid Temp) and torque converter output (Trans Fluid Temp B) available in the channels.

Glad to hear he is OK as in still standing on this earth, what ever he is going through is WAY WAY more important than us here on tacomaworld. I hope he comes out from whatever is going on in his personal life OK. There is NO rush to get back to us!

Ill be putting your trans tune in when i get a chance (this latest one if your uploading it) i despise having to baby it to watch trans temps. If i could use 5th a little more without having to watch temps all day, thatd be great

Ill try and get V10 up today all in one post so you can get my latest with the much more aggressive 4th n 5th lockup. Id HIGHLY recommend it over v9!

No different with or without super. The logic of the NA vs TRD tune as far as shift points and tcc lockup are identical stock. The only thing different between the two is the Stock TRD calibration actually applies LESS pressure to gear clutch packs than the stock NA tune... yes, LESS, which could be the cause of some of the flare the supercharger guys are seeing.

    Alrighty, V10 as promised.

    V9 here - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hp-tuners-for-2005-2015.600793/page-161#post-20781692

The changes from v9 to v10 are in the following areas:
    • 5 to 4 downshift
      • Increased DS rpm in mid throttle area to get rid of a wacky dip, this brings the 5 to 4 downshift in those mid bulk-of-the-driving throttle range closer to when it pops out of lockup
    • 4th tcc release
      • Doubled negative values to hold onto 4th lockup WAY longer and get it closer to the 4 to 3 downshift
    • 5th tcc release
      • Essentially doubled values as well to hold onto 5th lockup A LOT longer vs stock which pairs well with the increased 5 to 4 downshift

After doing 1150 miles of driving in the last 6 days while loaded full of camp gear + motorcycle and stand up jetski on a trailer, the much more aggressive lockup is SOOOO WELCOMED. Rolling hills are tackled with much less popping out of lockup, and cruise control behaves a lil better now due to it (unfortunately we cant fix cruise logic)

Also note, these changes are made for my truck, essentially a stock truck: mild 2in lift, 265/75R16's and sliders. The shift points themselves (mainly upshifts) are tailored to my desire of a smooth driving grandpa truck...we can DEFINITELY get more aggressive with upshifts to hold onto a gear way longer, those with bigger tires and or gearing changes would probably benefit more from being more aggressive with upshift changes and that is something I can work on if someone wants to be my guinea pig!

As always, feel free to ask questions, hit me up, tag me, quote me, pm me etc etc!

I have not, but the NA tune even stock has higher gear pressures than the TRD tune in the lower throttle openings and obviously has less power without a supercharger. But could see how it could occur with a super and the TRD cal especially in those taller gears which require more clamping pressure.

Im working on shift pressures and will get that out soonish.

Yeah.... it has something to do with the Logic of the TRD cal, but id be curious if changing gear pressures to at least what the NA cal has, if not my conglomeration of pressures of the NA cal across the board would help or solve the issue.

I’d like to try this. A bit timid because I don’t want to break anything and I’m clueless on the trans. You’re a pioneer. @JustDSM changed a couple of things and it’s very crisp now.

It’s not a mechanical problem. It is related to the TRD calibration. Mine never did it with the NA ECU combined with the UCON. As soon as I started running the TRD flash the flare started.

Mine actually hasn’t done it in a long time since I added 10% to an area of cells in the OTT table.

It has been deleted and can also be adjusted if desired. It is awesome.

Also recommend the clutch accumulator delete.

I had the same thing occur. I'm almost at the point of going for a transmission rebuild to get rid of the flare.

If it is indeed TRD tune related, using this HP Tune widget can help get rid of it?
