Welcome to the modern world finally haha. I like my Makita impact, but really any impact that isn't a toy can zip wheels off fast

It's definitely nice to have that power of the big Fuel M18 without needing to be plugged in. It's been a life saver for me on timing belt jobs for sure

Yeah, you always learn manually how to do things that way you always have a last resort. Completely agree

That's what I use my sad old Craftsman impact for too haha, good for zipping interior and engine bay accessories and dress up shit. But my little Makita impacts (and the random drill I never use) have made me very happy. 1,180ft/lb of busting torque, adjust that for the BS marketing wank value and its probably around 1,000ft/lb haha

Man I want a good impact gun but fuck are they pricey, prefer something battery operated so I can bring it on the trail. I realize the battery ones usually don't usually have the same power as the others but I don't think I need one with tons of torque.

I use it on any of the big bolts on any cars. But yeah the big one is the crank bolt. I have the m12 electric ratchet and m12 fuel impact wrench as well. If I have room, I use the big boy on suspension and brake stuff and then the smaller stuff zips through anything else I throw it at. Had them for a few years now

Just invest in something with good battery value and cross compatibility. The Ryobi stuff is great for the home gamer cause the battery works in everything, the Milwaukee stuff is nice and the batteries are split into two tool types so you'll spend more in batteries but the value is still good and you don't feel bad if you break one cause they aren't hugely expensive. The Makita stuff is very nice too, batteries are more expensive, but I've had lots of Makita stuff that's older than me that still works a treat

I'm only a fan of the Milwaukee or Makita portable stuff. I've never had Dewalt stuff but I'd be surprised if it wasn't comparable to the other two

That's good to know about the Ryobi, I have a Ryobi power drill so I've already got the charger...assuming their impact uses the same one. I'll have to check.

I was hoping Hercules made an impact wrench since I already have their impact driver, but I couldn't find one at least not in their lineup at Harbor Freight. But I'll look into the Ryobi options at Home Depot later today when I head over there

I've never been impressed with DeWalt power tools. Batteries have always been shit and the output from the impacts is laughable, they don't have a big enough lineup of tools to make buying batteries worth it either.

I didn't know that, but I really wanted to get into Makita when I started up my batt tool stuff because Pops always had the old Japanese Makita tools growing up and they were absolutely top notch(and I like Japanese shiz lol). We used those tools hard and I can't think of a single time we had an issue. But anyway Makita battery powered stuff wasn't quite there yet like 10-15vyears ago, when Milwaukee started getting real serious with it

yeah it was a surprise gift for my birthday last year, I don't use it a ton because anything I need real power for requires an impact wrench, and anything less I just use my Ryobi on. I do like my Hercules angle grinder though, that one I've been happy with

One of my favorite Ryobi things is the weirdo right angle drill, and the trigger on that thing is like a fine electric throttle in a nice car, 0-100 in tiny steps, smooth as butter. But my favorite new Ryobi thing is the battery powered soldering station, it's awesome, just pop in your regular old Ryobi battery and go solder in the car, great heat control and fast warmup. They have a new dremel station powered off that battery too.

Also, watch the local classifieds. Most of my battery/cordless tools I actually bought used and saved a grundle that way. None of the Milwaukee tools have given me problems, new or used

A soldering station??? Wow, that'd be super convenient. Wonder if Milwaukee has one? I'll have to check.
