I’m back after a long hiatus and cheating on the Taco with my Jeep. I really miss how cozy this thing is as well as how tight it drives. Also you’d be surprised how well it does offroad. You just have to be smart on how you drive. Hope u guys enjoy the pictures :D

    I’m planning to add stripes, retro-style ....
Replicate what was on 70s-80s trucks. Just gotta decide which.

which stripe pattern did your model originally have?

I like the 'lightning bolt' style on the SR5 for your year a little better than what they had for mine (not sure what '96s had) but still, my stripes have been pretty much the only 'non-paid' compliment from a random stranger at a gas station my truck has ever gotten

I also like the single cab stripes, what is it called? it looks like a half rainbow

I’m going between the 2 or 3 color pattern like:
    A5E95A95-DB40-4D60-8EFF-9B48A338B3A5.jpg 1B221A56-2599-4ED1-AA6B-A6A884B07C11.jpg 75778499-7158-4376-B501-81BA54CD1764.jpg 8BBEA66C-39C6-4BC6-BC50-8692FBF32488.jpg AD9A445A-A2FC-4B36-806E-3532C7CF47C6.jpg

I like this combo, but that is a lot if white/gray/tan on the hood.
    46C75801-D5F0-4581-B984-76F1E33B240C.jpg
I’d tweek it to have the side stripes set to follow the factory hood crease, then simply move the door ones up accordingly.

    As for colors:
Definitely orange & yellow, but the 3rd for a 3 color strip I’m torn on:
red (would be a bit clashy, but quite retro)
    gray
    White
    Tan

I want to do an older stripe pattern than the 90s ones, & would be laying out, cutting, & applying it myself.

I’m thinking of this as my pattern:
    603F5D67-C3F8-4640-9BAE-010D5EE26B94.jpg
Front block- 3rd color, maybe black or red- set just inside the fender indent, then orange & yellow as the blocks with the tails- either ending at the door handle, can rear, or rear bed-side indents.

i 'grew up' on the stripes, and was very baffled (for lack of a better word) to see them pretty much disappear in '98
although I 'think' the PreRunner had something that resembled but was barely noticeable!

Been a bit since I posted in here. A few new mods in the last 6 months.
    • 255/80 wildpeaks in 18 4runner rim (thanks for posting the original inspiration @96degreesindashayd ) . A little heavy but price and timing was right - eyeing some scs’s
    • Swapped the 5100s on stock coils for 881, OME’s, Dakar’s
    • Stubbs sliders (thanks for the recommendation @DJB1 )
    • Replaced most of the chrome w/ Amazon replacements
    Now for the pics :)

Looking good! I love how well the Stubbs sliders fit. They blend in so well they’re almost unnoticeable.
