I'm driving myself crazy! I want an aggressive looking tire (basically with side lugs) that drives good on the highway. I'm not going hard core 4 wheeling, but I do drive gravel roads often. Mileage will be more important than mud grip and we seldom get snow. Stock suspension, 2 wheel drive, 05 Tacoma. Size will be 265/70 R17.

I saw a Tacoma the other day with BFGoodrich K02's that I really liked. I went to the shop to buy a set and my tire guy suggested I look at the Hankook DinaPro MT or MasterCraft MXT's. I walked in knowing what I want, walked out scratching my head.

What's your guys's experience with tires? I "want" something that looks like Superswampers but know that I need drive-ability. This truck sees the highway 98% of the time.

And yes, I know there is a search function. I've about searched myself out! I've spent more nights on Google trying to figure this out than I care to admit! Lol, I'm hesitant to hit send as I know you guys are tired of this question.

BTW I'm in the same boat as you and having had a set of General Grabber AT2 on my previous truck (heavy and tough as hell) that killed my fuel economy I'm going to stick with factory street tires and look for a cheap set of off road tires to play with. Unless you just want the look, then buy one of those listed by the other guys.

My first response will always be “Michelin defender ltx m/s....”

But... hankook dynapro’s are very light and have an agressive thread. I ran them in the beginning when I had to have a “cool” tire.

If you want something that is not super loud then I would look at something more like the nitto terra grappler or falken atw3. I can tell you from experience that having a mud terrain looks sweet BUT when you go on road trips all you want to do is stab your tires because of how annoying they get lol

Go with what you set out to get... the BFG K02s. I've run them on many different trucks, suvs and even on a Subaru Forester. I also had the Cooper equivalents but they wore far quicker the any BFGs I ever had. The BFGs give you a good ride on-road and in my experience last for many miles.

Go with ko2 in c load. You'll be happy with those.

Do not go with an MT for on road. You'll regret it.

If you aren't going to use them they're a PITA. They tend to be heavy so your mileage will drop, they usually don't handle as well on the road (especially wet conditions), they wear faster and they're typically loud, some very loud, which gets annoying quickly on trips and contributes to driver fatigue. Lots of good tires out there though, you might check with your local off-road clubs and see what they like for your area.

My Nitto Ridge Grapplers do great on the highway and in rain and snow. Quiet too...

Coopers are a great choice i was originally going to go with them but I went with the duratracs because they were lighter. And cheaper
