Snapper SPX riding lawn mower. Blades stay engaged even when the switch is off. When I turn the switch on to engage the blades, the mower stalls. Does anyone have any clues? Also, everything stays running even when I'm not in the seat.

Halfway done mowing this God damn field and the thing stalled out. Grass was too high/thick. I had the girlfriends son out there by himself mowing it while I was busy doing other things. I probably would have told him to raise the deck higher if I had seen it sooner. Not sure if that matters

Not sure how they're built, got enough grass tangled up on a pulley the belt can't disengage? Idk why it'd stay running after the deadman is broken.

Cleared all the grass from deck, blades, clutch. Issue persists. I'm confused by the mower stalling when PTO switch is on and when switch is off, it's fine. Blades rotate in both switch positions, also weird to me. Also the deadman had me confused.

Google tells me about why it would stall at all. Google tells me about why the blades won't turn. But Google doesn't tell me about why it stalls when the PTO is engaged, but ok when it's not engaged.

It has a pulley off the bottom of the engine. It looks like there is a clutch sorta deal (like an AC clutch on the truck) this is where the mower deck runs off of.

could be a problem with d.m.switch not working correctly . can you take it out of seat clean it up a little ...they do get corroded a little
when you engage pto it will think no one is in seat and cuts out . almost sounds like someone tried to bypass safety stuff
    just my 5 ¢ :notsure:
my snapper z turn had that problem
