The good thing I have going is that it is almost our renewal window and we represent one of the top 5 customer accounts for our insurance provider. Automobile is one portion of the account but they provide our entire commercial/GL coverage so they have a lot to lose with messing around with this claim.

Same goes for our brokers as we have been shopping new insurance brokers for a couple renewals so I have some people with “skin in the game”. We will see how it works out. This week should be telling. We usually get fairly quick responses with this kind of thing but we will see!

Good thing about Tacomas is that they are popular and a replacement truck can be found rather easily. Glad you're ok.

    Was allowed to recover my:

    BAMF bed rack
    BAMF IFS skid
    SOS sliders
    Tacoma bed-mat

I'll take that as a small victory.

Depends on your insurance and state. I got depreciated payouts for every modification on my truck that I left on there (suspension / wheels / tires / bumper / cap). My insurance total loss check was for more than I paid for the truck new. I provided photos and receipts for everything done. I had receipts for like $5,000 worth of stuff and ended up getting roughly $3,500 back because of usage / depreciation (which stinks, but does make sense unfortunately).

That may not be the case for everyone, but it was something I was able to do. I got $900 + sales tax for the used cap on my truck (the only item I didn't have a receipt for).

To the OP. I know you've cooled off on the Pro, but it's an easy way to have very similar to the truck you had before without having the wrenching. If mine were totaled tomorrow I'd just go Pro and be done with it. I'd retain my wheels / tires if I could and call it good. I know that lifting and modding is cheaper in the end, but with a family and commitments the idea of a turnkey solution is appealing these days.

The only reason I took that stuff off was because the insurance appraiser told me I would be getting pennies on the dollar for those items. Other than the sliders, everything was bought on C-List that I took off. I did submit receipts etc. for the suspension, wheels and tires (which were only a couple weeks old) and he told me that would apply towards the value of the vehicle. I'll be interested to see what figure they come up with once it is officially deemed as totaled.

I agree with rationale behind going pro, which is why I first considered it, but I don't love any of the color options from the past two years and I would be looking at a 17 Pro if I went with a color I really loved. I'm basically going to build the same truck with just small tweaks (one clip higher on the lift, dakars instead of Icon AAL) either way, i'm just waiting for the official word that it is totaled then it's game on!

Yup I got the same runaround, that they fix it to "new spec". Currently I'm just trying to get either my company or the at fault parties to pay the full amount, we are still owed almost $300 because we brought it to a dealer and apparently they couldn't agree on a price with the insurance company.

Fair enough. Sometimes I wish I took more off my truck (the minor stuff the appraiser wouldn't see).

That airbag smell still hits my imagination sometimes. It’s traumatic, glad you made it out alive!

    It’ll buff out.

Jk but definitely get the tax and license back and cancel the warranty or gap if you have any of those things, most times the warranty will be around another $2000 back. Mine got totaled so I know the struggle.

    Oh ok lol
Well as to not take up the OPs thread and long story short, I hit a drunk driver after he cut me off and break checked me, got turned a bit, got T’d by and SUV and that was that. Drunk driver took off. Rear axle was broke, rear door needed replacing, the whole bed, suspension front door needed to be fixed and the cabin frame to be cut and welded + all the other little things. Had 10,000 miles on it.

Na, it was off a stop light..traffic that wasn’t zig zagging between lanes had probably picked up to about 30 mph at the most.
