Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

@OVTune will the 2.0 “catted dump tube” tune have an 87 octane version? Would like to still run 87. Also will your turbo or SC kits only be 91 and 93 or will they have an 87 option too?

 

Perhaps 2.0 will get me to take off the SSP module... I'm hoping it will, but so far - it's still the best add-on to the OVTune 93 performance tune IMO...

I run 93 base, but you’re absolutely right, SSP is a must for me too, it simply keeps you in the right gear most of the time. OV has said that one of the real issues is that the truck upshifts with 0% throttle, which made me think he was working on that. Not speculating, just being hopeful.

Mat said the lowest we will be able to run on any of the forced induction tunes is 91 octane. It is not possible to safely run 87 octane with FI and our high compression engines without risking detonation.

Anyone getting a weird surge if you don't let it idle 2 minutes before backing out? I didn't have it at first, but it started after about 5000 miles. 2019 OR/AT with 1.05 93 perf.

 

It does this on the factory tune, did it on my 16

I'd help with testing if needed. I'm on 1.05.1 - 93 GL and I still get the shuddering although milder, still get a downshift surge after coming to a stop, and it still doesn't know what gear to be in in auto e.g. it doesn't want to downshift after upshifting too fast. Then sometimes it will downshift too much and throw you back.

 

If the M/T version runs well on the Ginger, I think we can call it good. Just sayin..

 

just sold my ssp after using with the Tune until the GL option came out with 1.05. Made the ssp unnecessary - but I agree it did the trick and was well worth the $.

 

Or! If Ginger likes it, we could all be fucked?

 

If the testing we did for 1.04 is any indication, Ginger happy = everyone happy.

 

It's pretty much the only file that didn't stutter, although I had some knock when smashing the go pedal.. c'mon 2.0 M/T!!
