    I don't know about the hooks, but we were going for baby Alligator Gar. Had shrimp, bloody chicken liver, hot dog sausages, live worms, and bread. The fish would eat around the hook without touching it

    Every time I’ve fished for gar I’ve chummed the water with sweet corn and put corn on a circle hook. Hot dog is also great. If you want catfish, the best bait I’ve found is honey wheat bread. Take off the crust and ball up the bread tightly and stick it on a circle hook and wait
