Anyone know of a good mechanic/service center that can do a pre-purchase inspection near Norfolk? Looking at a used Tacoma and the seller is allowing a third party inspection before purchase. Thanks in advance.

Japanese Auto Masters in VB May do them, located down by the amphitheater.

 

Any dealer will do them as well. I only know of a few good shops in va beach that I know does good work since I'm friends with the owners

 

Whats to inspect besides checking recals and TSB's? What's the warranty?

 

So other than some friends in a driveway, what shops are we recommending in here for things like suspension installs. Me and a couple friends did my last install and it was great, learned a lot about the truck.....but part of me wants to have a shop do my upgrades for piece of mind.

 

I don’t know. I get more piece of mind doing the work myself. That way I know what was done and that it was done right.

 

Yeah, I get that. If I was just going to pop the old stuff out and put in new bolt in stuff I'd be all about it. I'm considering going LT so more cutting/welding would be my sticking point.

 

Several LT installs have already been done in the garages and driveways of members that are responding. I truly would never trust shops to do that level of work. Not shops in this state at least.

 

I agree with you. Welding is a sticking point with me also. Finding a place you can trust is the thing.

This. I got the hook up from someone when I went LT as well. I went to college down in Norfolk and for something like LT I would expect you will pay big time and honestly I don’t know if they would get the droop and limit straps right. Half the shops that were there when I was there were known for trying to swap out parts for cheaper pieces if they could get away with it. Funny thing is I have had horrible luck with shops there doing bowner jobs vs when I got my second gen up in nova and doing things with members my truck was much better.

 

Eastern Offroad. Nice shop and warranties there work. Most dealerships use them to have lifts installed with out voiding factory warranty. Be ready to pay for there experience and knowledge though $$$

 

There's a dude that lives around the corner from me that always drives home a 2018 Off-Road (i think....it's fully vinyl wrapped) with bed racks, jerry cans, RTT, hybrid winch bumper, etc.....it's fully decked out in Eastern vinyl wrap so I'm guessing he works there. I need to go make friends.

 

That sounds like one of the shops "show/advertising" trucks they built. I've seen it parked on ramps flexing out in there parking lot before. They are good shop just expensive. Get what you pay for I guess tho
