Hmmm...I have Friday off so 3 day weekend!

Kinda torn between going up to the likes of Pocatello and riding up there, or staying here; hitting the bike park Friday to beat the crowd, Wasatch Crest Saturday and then some lazy Sundance park laps.

Just called dibs on a Saturday lift to the top of the Crest. Looks like I'm staying local.

Awesome, thanks! I plan on building a sleeping platform where the center can drop down and I'll be able to keep my bike inside if/when needed. When I was googling for these I just wasn't using the right search phrase.

Lefty owner, early 29er adopter, 1x10 before it was cool. Also, single speed racer.

It’s super fun, flowy, and fast. Nothing steep or hard though, just fun.
There are some other areas around that I haven’t ridden though, like Oakridge, those areas supposed to up the ante a bit.

The reason we are visiting is BECAUSE we want to move here from Colorado. I’m so over the crowds, traffic, and attitudes here.

People in Bend are laid back and super friendly. It’s a growing town and does have tourism, but no University and not near and major metro area so the population doesn’t fluctuate and the people are mostly local.
Access to mountain biking, camping, rivers, and lakes are stupid close to town, and Bachelor is 20m away. And no steep canyons for dumbasses to drive on, with wide well maintained roads means no sitting in traffic for hours on end.

Plus, close to Hood, the coast, and the weather is perfect. Jobs pay well, cost of living lower than most of CO, close to Vancouver and NW riding, and an awesome brewery and food scene.

It’s all perspective man. If moving from Utah, yeah it’s expensive. If moving from Colorado, it’s cheap.
We simply can’t afford a decent home in Boulder, where a shitbox fixer upper 2000 sq ft home runs 600k+. In Denver, maybe 450k+.

In Bend 350k gets you a near new home within 10m of downtown.

If you can’t tell, yeah, we like it here. We are going to try to make the move next year.

Anyone finding any bike related prime deals?

I’ve been watching/searching, just not seeing much.

That would be awesome! I haven't had a chance to look at mounts to closely, are they pretty much one size fits all?

Man my fiancé wants to move out to Colorado, but I fear the cost there can be pretty nuts as well. I assume you are out in Denver?

It depends on where you want to move to. The front range and most of the mountain resort towns are pretty pricey all around. If you are looking to just have good location relative to all the outdoorsie activities then there are some lower cost areas (think western slope), but obviously they have some reasons why the cost of living is lower.

Guilty as charged... I have an excessively active and creative mind that's never satisfied with the status quo, intent on tinkering with and modifying expected norms to my wants and desires. Life's too short to live within the confines of expectations...

My first real race MTB was a Kona Explosif 26" made of Dedacciai steel... damn was that a fast, but comfortable whip.

    2006Explosif.jpg

These were mounted to a Thule cross bar that was in the bed of my truck for nearly a decade before one of the compression end tabs finally broke. I contacted Thule about spare parts and they told me I'd have to buy a whole new bed rack... I told them to pound sand.

You should move to Grand Junction. The riding is amazing, and then I can have a backyard to crash in when I continue to visit every year.

I’m in Boulder, north of Denver.

Agreed. Finding work is a factor as well. Where the jobs are, c.o.l. is high. I’d say in the nice towns/cities you’re looking at least 600-700k for a decent, certainly not very nice, single family home.

CO is a bit of a trap. You want to move to be close to mountains and outdoors. But the c.o.l. is crazy high in those towns. If not, there’s no work or it’s a tiny town with nothing there.
