    I wouldn't think population growth alone would have that much of an effect. I put more of the blame on the propaganda wing of the outdoor industry convincing people they have to "get out and explore" if you want to be hip, and here's a bunch of shit to buy to do it. $19 billion in sales last 12 months. It was $10.85 billion in 2010.

    The advent of UTVs really signaled the end for me. Fuck those glorified go-carts.

    It was my first time visiting there. Fun and easy for sure. It was nice floating down, drinking and fishing. And staying next to redwoods is always a plus for me.

    My buddies have a set. Can confirm one drives like a maniac! But he's a damn good driver. My other buddy, not so much...lol. The one with the 4 seater was telling me he's not very happy with his 30k purchase. Yea they are a hoot to drive, but I guess a belt is like $300 and its common for it to go out :eek: Fuck all that mess

    agree with this. as a ATV rider and have riddin with guys in UTVs that will do 90 on fire roads is plain dumb, dangerous, and against the law. they will speed up the closing of many more roads and areas.

    A lot of crap and too much money spent
    I hope he is doing this by himself. I have a friend that drove like a manic as well, it ended up costing him dearly. His wife was killed in a crash at pismo while he was driving like a manic. I never had a chance to get into the thing with him and honestly I'm glad I never did.

    I don't have an issue with the vehicles themselves. I'm sure I'd have blast driving one. My issue is the lack of respect and common courtesy by some drivers. They just come across to me as self-absorbed, entitled pricks, but I'm sure some are good people.

    My biggest pet peeve is them thinking they can go anywhere they want. Trails? We don't need trails. Almost as bad is ripping by pedestrians or campgrounds and kicking up a dust cloud that persists for the 30 minutes. Imagine half a dozen rigs roll through that Jackson Creek CG on the way to Sawmill doing 40-45 mph. We'd be complete assholes.

    Haha, don't even get me started. On the road out of Bowman, group of 5 came ripping up and got mad at me because I was slowly rolling down the trail. Keep in mind these are the same guys blasting through campgrounds with their 10+ speakers cranked. I have no problem with them (the rigs) either, but the same rules and courtesies apply to everyone.

    As with most things, there will always be the bad apples that ruin it for everyone.
