Im looking at getting some mud flaps, most likely Rokblokz, but I’m not sure if I should get the regular size or xl. Ive got 285/7017 tires on 4runner pro wheels, they stick out from the fender flare just a little. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it I live on a gravel road so these mud tires are throwing a lot of rock.

There is a difference in the mounting hardware. I can’t remember exactly what it was rekgen used but I decided on the rokblokz, to me seemed more polished.

I’m stock and got the regulars

I would just look at the dimensions and transfer that to some cardboard, then go out to your truck and see what you think you'd like more.

If I recall correctly it was just three or four screws that went into factory holes and required no drilling. Not sure how if could be much better. The screws weren't black, so maybe that was it?

Screws aren’t black on the roks either. Wasn’t there a clear tube or something used as a spacer for the rekgen?

Yeah I think it was black though. It was just to keep the flap equidistant from the wheel since the mounting holes are not on a single plane. Works fine though; the flaps don't wobble or move.

Love my RekGens. I would have gotten longer for the front tho. I am using black gorilla tape to add material to make them longer. Helped on the 35 mile McCarthy highway for sure.

I was thinking about getting flaps but I dunno....kind of like it without them. IF I did get them they'd by OEM.

I'm happy with my RekGens as well. The hardware that comes with RekGen is black now. You can see the flex here:

I will say I did damage one on my last trip out to the desert (crawling over some boulders, it got caught under the tire in reverse) and it is not covered by warranty. They are sending me a single replacement flap for $20 shipped which is totally fair as far as I’m concerned.

RekGen... all black hardware, no spacers needed. Only uses screws.Heard some guys talk about having to remove a tire, I didn’t have to remove anything.

What hardware do the Rokblokz use? If not just screws going into the existing holes, what is it using?

Also, they all look great from behind, which is of course the only pictures that companies post on their websites, but how do they look from the front side where you actually see the hardware? I saw some mud flaps (not sure the brand) on a Tacoma the other day and it had all steel washers/screws and looked horrible against the black mud flap.
