yeah it can be a real pain in the ass going up the Grapevine if there's traffic, so many semi trucks going 30mph or less and then you got some people going 90mph and others going 40mph because their cars are on the verge of overheating lol

I'm amazed people in little cars overheat on that, but I always see a few broken down. It's nothing like a mountain pass in the northwest, not as steep at least. But I guess the trucks make it the worst with the slow speeds and then there's all the people that pee their pants instead of passing a truck, or the scariest for idiots, in between two trucks.

yeah LA drivers are notorious for not minding the fast lane/slow lane concept, and it's even worse on the Grapevine pass.

If you look down into the canyon below the Grapevine on some parts, you can see the "old" 5 freeway, before it was an actual freeway. Just a really old worn out asphalt stretch of road down in the canyon. Can't drive on it anymore but its cool to hike on. They film a lot of car chase scenes and stuff down there. Sons of Anarchy filmed a ton of stuff on that road.

If I keep my Barracuda I may end up doing this. Hopefully I sell it cause this would kill my wallet.

Got the front buttons done. Switched to a satin black and they match the leather wheel spot on. IMG_20190716_160145738.jpg

I was looking at the maint records for the Yaris when I got them for the buyer and noticed that the dealership was putting in 5W30 conventional when the spec calls for 0W20 syn. Was it totalled? Do I sue?

The only thing Bakersfield has going for it is that its not too terribly far from the Sierras...like an hour or hour and a half from Sequoia National Park I think

But yeah the town itself is in the middle of nowhere and about as exciting as a stale loaf of bleached white bread.

Damn that's awesome, I really want to live closer to the Sierras (if we stay in CA). With the baby and all we're thinking about moving up to Grass Valley for awhile to be near my wife's family...free babysitting lol. It's a small town about an hour and 15 minutes from Tahoe which would be amazing.

I just need to get out of LA more than anything, too many freaking people here.

I hear there's some really good offroading near Shaver Lake, we should plan a trip sometime

I used to camp regularly up in the Sequoia National Park. Free fire wood for days. The drive up is killer though if anyone in back gets car sick easily. Will do a number on your brakes as you are leaving.

Yeah that windy highway up the mountain takes forever, especially when you get stuck behind a line of cars going extra slow because they want to stare at everything. We were up there a few months ago right after they opened the road up through Kings Canyon after winter, some really good dispersed camping areas up there.
