    So as the title says,

How accurate is the 4 tire pressure monitor on the Trd OR?

6 weeks with the truck and pressure kinda low so I set the air machine in the gas station to 32 and then measured with cheap analog autozone gauge and measured 30. So set up machine to 35 and my analog gauge measured 32...

I jump into the truck and it says 35...
guess my cheap analog autozone is bad?

Got home, accidentally dropped gauge, said “sh@t now I won’t be able to trust this” re measured tire for fun and it measured 35...

    So,

Accurate reading on cluster? Or not?

    Thanks.

They are not bad, my digital gauge read 45 and the TPS gauges read 48.

Guess we :goingcrazy: too much, so lets have a cold one and celebrate the benefits of having TPS’s

Edit: I fill my KO2’s up that high for when I’m on long freeway road trips, and will air down for off road.

mine have been surprisingly accurate and consistent over the last 2 1/2 years. i check my pressures with a Longacre gauge, a money one. i've been within about 1 to 1.5psi every time.

Not sure about accuracy, but for precision, on TechStream they report to the hundredth decimal point. That's crazy.

I have had no reason to doubt mine. They are close (within +/- 1.0lb) on both my mechanical and digital gauges.

Good point! I have KO2’s And air them up to 45-50 for long freeway road trips where saving gas is an imperative, then adjust accordingly when I go off road.

    Hahaha!

At 35psi on these tall sidewalls, I don't feel the tire rolling over (or see evidence of it) and the wear has been great for 23k:

I had r17 on my previous Tacoma so I felt the low pressure when I did a faster than usual corner on my new r16. then I saw the wear marks on the tire on the very edge of the thread so I wanted to add a little pressure.. I will try 35 and see how it goes.. may be set it to a half way 32psi

That is what I did. I didn't like the feel of the recommended 30psi when taking corners that the truck was clearly able to. There was noticeable tuck. I tried 32 and ended up at 35. Now, the tires will howl at their limit and still feel stiff and controlled.

Definitely find out what works for you, then monitor the wear.

I should be marking my tires. I know that they are being rotated for ToyotaCare, but I don't think they are doing a cross rotation. So after the 10k and 20k services, I flipped them across the axles.

my tires won't roll the sidewall without air. that's what it's like on a E range stock size tire. you gotta lean on them to make them stretch. if you don't create your grip with this setup then you don't get the grip at all.

    That is hilarious.

I know that is how my friend's Bronco feels. Except it has like a 5turn lock to lock steering. So, it is a bit hard to adjust to quickly.

it's one element in the package that makes the truck so much fun to drive for me. it's manual all the way, not just shifting, but creating grip, throttle steering, etc. E tires under 31" will make your ass work for every damn thing. which i like.
