The same shit everyone else has.
Getting ready to flush the PS in my truck.

Read all the DIYs and shit.

    Still have a question -

How much ATF are you guys using when you’re doing the flush?

I know the system doesn’t hold much capacity, but how much fluid are you pumping through until it’s flushed clean?

I assume 2qts is sufficient but I wanna have enough so I don’t run out mid flush.

i used a quart or two in mine when i did my 65k flush. I used a vacuum pump and sucked out the old fluid from the reservoir, refilled with new, test drove it, and then repeated about 6-7 times. I was gonna keep going, but the fluid was already visibly red vs the brown i started out with, so i figured i was good to go..

You can also disconnect the return line and drain it that way by turning the wheels (with the vehicle off) but ive found this makes a mess sometimes. i thought it was easier to just use a vacuum pump and take my time

I bought a gallon of Valvoline MaxLife from Walmart ~$18. 2-3 quarts for the flush and refill with some left over.

I disconnected the return line. Used a 2L Orange Juice container to catch the old fluid.

    Perfect.

I was gonna pull the line but I’m lazy.

If you were able to flush it after only 6-7 times with under 2 quarts, I’m gonna do it this way.

    Thanks.

Ended up pulling the return hose. Had a little more time after work than I thought I was gonna.

Wasn’t too bad. Just made a minor mess.

Flushed like 7/8 of a bottle through it, and it came out clean. Had just enough left to top it off.

I’m assuming the hot and cold levels are the fluid temp, not the engine temp.

    133k on the old fluid.

Pulling the return line or doing a rotation drain as mentioned in post #2. Both work well. Pick a card.
