Mine hasn't done it in a long time. I increased some values in the OTT table and it seems to have gotten rid of it. I have a fully built trans from IPT, I wouldn't suggest getting the trans rebuilt for the 4-5 flare. It isn't a mechanical problem, it is software.

I didn’t really discuss a specific number, but I’ve done some pretty crazy down shifts, launches, etc and it hasn’t even hinted that it had a problem with it. John at IPT is pretty cool, just give him a call and ask him.

With regards to trans changes I have done nothing is out of the normal range of pressures that the trans sees I have simply done a conglomeration of pressures. Heres a visual representation of things with regards to shift pressures, and why i think the 4 to 5 flare on the TRD cal is a thing at lighter < 30% accelerator pedal openings.

    Below:

Orange line, is the NA Cal's 3-5 gear pressures, Yellow line is the TRD 3-5 pressures, Note how much greater values are at under 30%. You have the extra power and tq of the super, yet less gear pressure all the way across, it doesnt make sense. What also doesnt make sense is the dip at the 30% in the NA 3-5 pressures. SOOOO what i did is across the board for all gears is do a conglomeration of the highest values of the NA 1-2 and 3-5 gears then got rid of the dip between 20 and 40%... this is the light blue line below. Been running those gear pressure values for all gears for ~ 2000miles now and no issues, nothing is out of range compared to stock just smoothed out and raised a lil in some areas. @ThomasMore66 If you want pop those values in the ND4's column into your gear pressure areas or, PM me and we can go from there!

So working on some more aggressive shift point mapping for @mightytacoman and i realized that in my v10 tune with the much more aggressive lockup, for all intents and purposes can not pop out of 4th lockup before a downshift to 3rd occurs if you are already in lockup within 4th (IE, you have shifted to 4th in the flats before a big hill at light throttle, lockup occurs and it will not leave lockup for the rest of 4th gear). For me this is freaking MONEY, cool trans temps no mushy throttle etc, and if I cant hold 4th lockup, I may as well just be in 3rd. Others with heavier loaded down trucks might not like this as in lockup you have no torque multiplier of the torque converter.

Also, working on a much more aggressive tune as far as shift points (raised up) for setups like @mightytacoman to rev out more per every gear, hopefully he will be able to test and give some feedback for those who want a more sporty tune thats more suited to a heavier truck. If anyone else is interested in this "Sporty" tune let me know!

ALLLLLRIGHTY. A quick update to my shift point helper doc.

    1. Tiresize is now used to calculate driving speeds, just enter your width, profile and rim size!
    2. SECOND much more aggressive "Sport Shifting" sheet added. I am going to call these shift points "SSV#" for "Sport Shifting Version #".... I am NOT using these shift / tcc lockup points, they are @mightytacoman 's that i just put in his tune and figured id make a sheet for it as well.
      • SSV1 - This Sport Shifting has had all upshift points raised SIGNIFICANTLY. 4 to 5 occurs 12mph later than stock! All downshift points have been raised as well, but not nearly as much as the upshift points. TCC lockup point were also changed from my V10 tune either back to stock or changed slightly from stock to suit the new shift points
    3. Third sheet added for gear pressures, this is in its infancy.
Questions, comments, ideas as always hit me up!

I’ve been out of the loop thanks to work, but it looks like you’ve been busy, great work man. I’m home again so should have my truck back together soon. I’m looking forward to trying some things, but the last changes were pretty dang good.

I hear that @JustDSM has been out on more important matters. I am thinking it's time to finally pull the trigger on the tuner, but will need/want his tune. Any way to access that in his absence? I would work the real logistics of getting him what is needed after his return.

Find someone that has your similar mods, copy their file into yours. Wait until he is back in action, and get him to look over your datalogs.

Grab a set of modified cam gears in the mean time from here.

    It's DLX son!
I have some gears coming shortly and am running a tune justDSM sent me for my otherwise stock truck. Any thoughts on what tune updates I should play with once the gears are in?

Was hoping someone would volunteer to provide a tune for a mostly stock truck, but can fully understand anyone not wanting to do that.

As for the gears, I was looking at those, but I don't think I'm ready for that quite yet. Very much appreciate the offer, but one step at a time.
