Creeping on your build thread now, haha. I like how the bumper doesn't sit like 4 inches away from the body (like TG tube bumper.)

 

That’s always been a turn off for me with most tube bumpers and pretty much all plate bumpers. Unfortunately it’s necessary on our trucks if you want a winch, there’s no way I could fit a reasonably sized winch in my bumper. Plate bumpers that stick out have always looked like a lip packed with chew to me Even with my rear bumper I’m a little indifferent about how it looks, I just thought it was the most practical bumper for my truck and what I do with it.

Ironman. It's made for a Hilux so the frame mount won't work, but I have a welder and cutoff! Needs more recessing but fits well.

 

Still need to put on a front bumper, here's the rear for now at least -

I notice a lot of Cali trucks running no front plate, doesn’t that get you messed with or are you guys going slow, not getting attention like me?

 

I never run a front plate. Normally, if you aren't doing something else wrong, you aren't going to get messed with.

 

I think I wanna make a few of those, anyone wanna get in on a group buy? I’ll knock one out for myself then I can do more.. I can powdercoat them too.

Yep, welders are well worth the money. I have a CBI kit bumper, and even when you add the cost of my welder, I essentially broke even compared to the cost of a complete CBI Moab bumper.

That said, a warning: Spend the extra and get something like a 180 welder. I have a small 125 Lincoln, and while it got the job done, it took a while. Double pass, if not triple pass on many of the seams, and the angles of of of the seams made cleaning the slag off pretty difficult.

I'm looking at selling my 125 and getting a 180. The ability for gas will make cleaner welds, but even if I don't do the gas, the higher power will make for fewer passes.

I've done sliders (4x innovation weld on kit), the front bumper, and I'm currently working on skids. Next will likely be a swing out rear bumper.

Given the costs of some of these bumpers ($1500+) and sliders ($500-$800+) and skids ($500+), even a $1000 welder will easily pay for itself after just a couple projects.
