yeah we have some of that ammo, so may try it out.its a friends granddaughter. We are just weighing some options. They have a 243, I have a couple 30-30's. so see what she feels comfortable shooting. I dont think a 30-30 kicks more than a 20ga? its been a while since we shot a 30-30.

Fwiw I started on a .243 20 years ago... And I still carry one nearly every time I go to the stand. Its just a little more forgiving on a shot past 100 yards if need be, and it kicks less imo and hits harder. See what she likes and go from there is the best bet though

I have both 30-30 and .243. Both are more than kid friendly. I tend to lean towards the .243 as I think it's somewhat more versatile. Plus both .243's I have will hold sub MOA groups at 100 yards with factory ammo. Honestly, can't go wrong with either one. See which one she's more comfortable with and go hunting!
