I currently have a 2018 Cement Access cab TRD OR tacoma. Its about time for some new tires and to be honest I am perfectly fine with my stock ride height. I would however like the advantages of the skinny tire setup. With that said I am currently waiting for some SCS Ray10 wheels 16" -12 which I plan to go skinny with. What is the skinny on the max tire height I can go with on a stock Access cab gen3 Tacoma? I would love to carry a full spare so that will also play into my purchase decision. I see there are BFGs ATs K02s that are 235 or 245 70 16s could I even entertain a 85 tire or should I stick with the 70? Seems like a 85 wont fit in the spare tire location on a full length bed from what I can find. Thank you in advance.

Check with the tires you want to use and see if they are rated for an 8" wide rim. I think most Skinnies are rated for a 7" wide rim at most. A 255 may fit an 8" rim, but I'd be surprised if a 235-245 does.

Thanks for the information as I forgot to account for that. Looks like a 245\75 will support a 8" wheel BFG KO2 but a 265\70 may be best. Now I need to see if these options will even fit a stock ride height. I will get the overall diameter and compare to other setups since I know the SCS wheel itself will fit. Looks like 30.6" diameter with 265/70 so if that fits on a stock setup then I may be good but yet to confirm.

No problem. I wish SCS made a 7" wide rim. I really like their stuff, but would also like to have a narrow tire.

Had I seen these before I got my CXTs I may have went with these. Be interesting to see how much work it will take to fit 35x10.50s, I think it will be a nice setup on the Tacoma.

With the wheel size, offset and back set I'm going with I actually don't believe I'll be doing much trimming. Already lifted 3" with Icon UCAs. I have the bamf CMC plates in hand. Just need to see how much I need to cut out.:sawzall::welder:

Woohoo, i just pulled the trigger on an OME lift. Now for tires, is there a 255/85-16 in all terrain? Or do I have to go with a 235 for that?

I believe 255/85/16 true all terrain options will be extremely limited, if any available at all. You're choices for that size will likely be limited to mud terrain or more hybrid (ie Cooper STMaxx).

Going with the smaller 235s or swapping to a 17" wheel will probably be the best way to stick with an all terrain.

What size 255/xx-17 has good AT options? I have some third gen wheels (16) I wanted to run but maybe I should just those and get some 17s.

Good may be subjective, but 255/80/17 will give you more brand/model options than 255/85/16.

Really thats pretty much the way it goes with all sizes 16" vs 17" and not exclusive to just the skinnies :notsure:

Cooper st maxx or falken wildpeak would be my vote. 16 gets you more rubber but 17 is fine as well.
